This shimmering Steely-vented Hummingbird was seen on the grounds of a hotel in the town of Minca in northern Colombia, South America.

A few weeks back I posted a ground level view of Baragoot Lake on the NSW Far South Coast hours before rising flood waters overtopped the barrier beach. During the night, flood flows scoured the new opening. The lake emptied, exposing farmland, fencelines, islands and wetlands that had been progressively drowned since 2016 when the lake closed after the last opening. Many fish and other organisms became stranded in the tumult, attracting hundreds of birds to a feast. The lake closed again a few days ago, and the cycle begins again. I've presented this shot in B&W, partly because the early morning colours were rather nondescript, and also because B&W seemed better suited to the overnight drama.

Coup de vent sur le Finistere

The Red-Vented Bulbul is native to Pakistan, India, and Sri Lanka, but has become a well-established invasive species in parts of the Middle East, various tropical Pacific islands, and is now appearing in limited numbers in the Houston Heights/Memorial areas. Although invasive, ultimately it seems that Bulbuls are not currently a threat. Photographed in Bayou Bend birding trail.

1957 BMW 507 vent. Superb aluminum sheet metal, and very very superb sports car. BMW had planned to sell thousands in the US, they ended handmaking 252 cars over 2 and 1/2 years total. They just cost too much, over $11,000 at one point......a pity

Wikipedia: The yellow-vented bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier), or eastern yellow-vented bulbul, is a member of the bulbul family of passerine birds. It is a resident breeder in southeastern Asia from Indochina to the Philippines. It is found in a wide variety of open habitats but not the deep forest. It is one of the most common birds in cultivated areas. They appear to be nomadic and roam from place to place regularly.

Conservation status: Least Concern
