partly in the build up to this week's MM challenge and partly because some time ago i did a series of monochrome foodie pictures which were hung in our kitchen. At that time i was massively disappointed with the peas i did - both in colour and mono. This is the first time i've revisited this...might redo the whole lot as i know more now than i did then!!
Field farming is thriving on the gentle slopes of the western foot of Mt. Hakone, where potatoes, radishes, cabbage, lettuce, and other crops are grown. Greenhouses and tunnel-type vinyl greenhouses are lined up on the slopes.

I found this wife and husband getting ready for their evening customers preparing Indian snacks on this street stand. Believe me its hard work, long hours on feet, the heat from the boiling oil, hot sun and dust from the road can get you. But they were calm, not yelling at each other and were just nice to each other.
I really like this shot, for me it tells many things about life…
They are there for each other, in marriage, in life, in happiness, in friendship, in business and in hardships as true partners. Two of them keeping the promises they made to each other.

In part 2 of the Sugar Maple Festival pictures I'll show various ways sap is collected from the trees and again, the pictures are not in the order they were shot. The collection of trees that the sap is collected from is called the "Sugar bush" collectivly.
This is a Sugar Maple leaf beside a taste of syrup...
The Hong Lim Complex was built in 1977 and was one of the first high-rise buildings in Singapore's Chinatown area. It is a mixed-use development that comprises 30 floors of commercial space and residential units on the upper floors. The complex is also known for its popular hawker centre, which is located on the ground floor and offers a variety of affordable and delicious local food.
