I redid my pirate from Focused as a vector image, because apparently I am crazy. Haven't quite got a background for him yet, but this is what I have so far of the dude himself.

Vector Magic is a commercial web service that lets you take bitmap images like photos and logos and make actual vector images out of them for use with Illustrator and the like. I don't have a need for those at this point, but they do let you download a free png version of what the vectorized image looks like and that's cool. I've used tracing/stenciling tools before, but this one seems particularly good at deciding what's noise vs necessary detail. They add their logo to the freebie png version, and I hope they don't mind I darkened it a bit. View large to see the details.

The Vector W8 is an American supercar produced from 1990 to 1993.[3] It was manufactured by Vector Aeromotive Corporation, and was designed by Gerald Wiegert[3][4] and David Kostka. The company utilized the newest and most advanced aerospace materials in building the W8s, which they said justified applying to the car the term "Aeromotive Engineering." Just 19 W8s were produced (17 customer cars and two pre-production cars, the prototype W2, and the two prototypes Avtech AWX3 and AWX3R, each with a mock up of a 7.0 liter DOHC TT engine). A total of 22 automobiles were produced by Vector Aeromotive over the life of the company. The car originally sold for $448,000 new, however on today's used market, they are available from $389,000 to well over $1.4 million depending on the condition of the car.

When the first mechs were produced, many were utterly impressed. However, hard lined traditionalists who still regarded tanks and wheeled machines as the best weapons on the battlefield were sceptical. Others pointed out that aircraft and VTOLs could kill mech’s like “shooting grouse on the green”. Fearing military fund cuts due to the scepticism or reacting to the negativity, a number of designers collaborated to invent a mech that would demonstrate its value.
That was the Madra.
The Madra was actually designed as a demonstrator, to show what a mech can do to conventional forces like tanks, infantry, and VTOLs. The designers equipped it with fout SRM 4 launchers and a single machine gun to give it the ability to hit multiple targets. For speed, the machine incorporated a standard Magna 245 engine giving it a great speed of 110 Kph plus. A modest five tons of armour was added to the machine. Combined with agility of its light frame, the original machine went up against a company of drone tanks, vehicles, six VTOLs and a pair of conventional aircraft. The land vehicles were taken out within minutes by a hail of SRM weapons, whilst the Madra dodged the returning fire. The VTOLs and jets were harder, but the point was proved to many. The original machine was then put into storage and forgotten.
That was until the Age of War demonstrated to all how much a menace the Periphery was. The new found Star League needed a machine that could tackle the vast plains and conventional forces of the Periphery but without wasting battlemechs. The net result was the resurrection of one of the key vehicles that changed military thinking forever, the Madra.
The standard Madra incorporated the four SRM 4 units that are good at killing vehicles, and each had a ton of ammo for the task. The machine gun was replaced by pulse lasers for medium quarter work, and to fend off VTOLs. The vehicle also incorporated four jump jets but the armour stayed the same. It was called the “Periphery Predator” for its agility, its saturation of SRMs, and speed.
However in the Succession wars, this machine was not a great opponent. Against mechs of similar and less tonnage, it can hold its own against Ostscouts and Locusts, but vehicles like Stingers and Wasps have hands that can wrestle this mech to the ground. The worst menaces are Javelins who have SRM 6 launchers and hands.
Against bigger threats, if it works in a company, it can cope. Its SRM 4s can cause a lot of problems for bigger mechs, but many bigger mechs have heavier armour and powerful weapons. If played right, it can survive and do damage but if it falls into the sight of a superior foe, it’s in trouble.
It is best used for cover, defence, and support where it is still very effective.
