In America now, we are very lucky indeed. We've had three different vaccinations (Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson) available to all people 12 and over for enough time for everyone to be fully vaccinated and yet we're still hovering around 50% for our vaccination rate and now the Delta variant is really causing some breakthrough infections of those already vaccinated and, of course, killing many people who are not vaccinated. In the midst of this, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) decided to apply some sort of bizarre honor system where only people who were unvaccinated would have to be masked indoors, which absolutely doesn't work because the same people who are anti-mask are the same people who are anti-vax. And, for the spaces and places that would enforce the vaccination, there's a whole industry now of fake vaccination cards people can show so they can continue to risk their lives and others.
At the end of the day, the people in my country just don't realize how good they have it and fall prey to spoiled entitlement and/or conspiracy theories. The cognitive dissonance required to still believe Coronavirus is a hoax even after our previous president, (demon Trump) actually contracted it is baffling and completely illogical.
Meanwhile, our leaders continue to fail us, ignoring the new Delta strain's capabilities to be spread easier outdoors easier, to be spread even within a vaccinated population because of a viral load 1000x that of the original strain, and because it only takes a couple of minutes or less vs. 15 minutes of exposure. So while our hospitals are getting filled up here in this country yet again, we're still having stadiums filled to capacity and large music festivals.

Borstnejlika (Dianthus barbatus) är en flerårig ört tillhörande familjen nejlikväxter. Denna växt kommer ursprungligen från Pyrenéerna, östra Karpaterna och andra delar av Balkan, Manchuriet, Ryssland och Kina. Som odlad variant förekommer den även i flera andra länder.
Borstnejlikan blir ungefär 50 cm hög. Den blommar mellan juli och september. Den har stark lukt och växer vanligtvis i grupper. Växten föredrar soliga ställen och mark som ska inte vara allt för våt.
Prunus spinosa, slån, växer vild mest längs kusterna från Bohuslän till Uppland och på Öland och Gotland.
Den är en lövfällande buske med svartbruna, törnklädda kvistar, blir ca. 2-3 meter hög och bildar nästan ogenomträngliga snår, där många småfåglar och andra små djur kan finna en skyddad boplats. Det hävdas att många av dessa snår är mycket gamla, då de vuxit på samma plats i "evigheter" om marken på åtminstone ena sidan hållits öppen.
Slån blommar på bar kvist i maj och efter blomningen kommer de 2-4 cm långa, äggformade bladen med naggade kanter. På senhösten mognar de blåsvarta, ätliga bären, som kan användas till att göra saft, sylt, gelé och slånbärslikör.
Benved växer ofta som en buske, men kan bli några meter hög och blir då närmast ett litet träd. Den växer i den smalstammiga undervegetationen i lövskogar och skogsbryn tillsammans med andra buskar.
Blommorna och bladen är oansenliga, men de rosenröda frukterna, som sitter kvar långt in på vintern, har gjort denna benved ganska vanlig som prydnadsväxt i trädgårdar och parker. Namnet "benved", som används även om andra småträd, till exempel skogsolvon (Viburnum opulus), skogstry (Lonicera xylosteum) och skogskornell (Cornus sanguinea), syftar på den gulaktiga, hårda och fina veden.

Per il tema Macro Mondays di oggi pensavo ad un soggetto futile e non impegnativo ma il risultato migliore l'ho ottenuto con questa autoambulanza in miniatura ed il pensiero è corso immediatamente al ruolo fondamentale che questi mezzi di soccorso hanno svolto in tempo di pandemia.
Chi si scorderà mai delle continue sirene che ad ogni ora del giorno e della notte ci creava angoscia ed un senso di paura che prima o poi potesse correre anche per noi....
Se finalmente si può dire che l'emergenza è alle spalle il merito va sopratutto alla vaccinazione di massa che ci sta riportando ad una vita pressochè normale.

For today's Macro Mondays theme I was thinking of a futile and undemanding subject but I got the best result with this miniature ambulance and the thought immediately ran to the fundamental role that these rescue vehicles have played in times of pandemic.
Who will ever forget the constant sirens that at any hour of the day and night created anguish and a sense of fear that sooner or later could run for us too ....
If we can finally say that the emergency is behind us, the credit goes above all to the mass vaccinations that are bringing us back to an almost normal life.

This is perhaps that last that remains of a series of DIY signs made and posted by a kid in the neighborhood. I saw someone furiously removing another one a couple blocks down in a fit of extreme perturbation. It was actually kinda hilarious. He was cussing at the sign. Triggered by a teenager.

Life Is 3D. It’s experienced even better in person in 3D. We would all be back to relatively more normal times if some of our undereducated, science-denying, conspiracy-embracing Tom, Dick, and Harry countrymen (and their equivalent Karens) hadn’t prolonged it by refusing simple things to defeat the COVID19 pandemic.
New Yorkers are famous for being impatient, aggressive, fast paced, rule-defiers, always trying to outpace others and doing their own thing. But it was so wonderful to see how stoic and practical vast majority of the sensible residents, and visitors, to my American forever hometown New York City are in dealing with pandemic restrictions.
This was the pre-line (inside the LaGuardia Airport terminal I landed at) to get to the actual taxi line outside the glass doors. No drama. No arguments. No unmasked people. No pushing or shoving.
It was the same experience when I reached Manhattan, and at every restaurant we went. Everyond cheerfully pulled out their photo ID and certificate of being fully vaccinated, often had a temperature check, got in, and had a great time. Like normal times. In 3D. Come on folks, let’s get back to Life IN 3D because Life Is 3D™!

Tusensköna (Bellis perennis) är en växtart i familjen korgblommiga växter. Den förekommer naturligt i Europa, västra och sydvästra Asien till Himalaya och Nordafrika. Det första svenska fyndet rapporterades från Skåne 1737. Tusenskönan är vanlig mest i Syd- och Mellansverige, där den växer på gräsmattor, i parker och på betesmarker. Växten används vanligtvis som friväxande i gräsmattor, rabattblomma eller som kantväxt.
Arten är en flerårig ört med kort upprätt jordstam. Stjälken kan bli drygt två decimeter hög och är bladlös. Bladskaften är vingade och bladskivan blir 6–40 × 4–20 mm med rundad spets. Blomkorgarna är toppställda med vanligen vita eller delvis rosa strålblommor som kan bli 4–11 mm långa. Diskblommorna är gula och ca 1,5 mm långa. Den rikligaste blomningen sker under försommaren, men sporadisk blomning förekommer under hela säsongen.
Artnamnet perennis betyder "flerårig". Tusenskönan är mycket karaktäristisk och genuin och kan inte förväxlas med andra växter.
Arten sprider sig lätt och förökar sig också med nya skott från jordstammen. Den är mycket populär såväl som prydnads- som rabattblomma. Förr i tiden användes den i trolldrycker.
