I was very fortunate to see this mega rarity in Brooklin ON today, a South American bird that has likely been blown way of course, hope it survives and finds it way back into a warmer area. I do not get many life birds, but this was my first in some time.

Yesterday a Variegated Meadowhawk was catching insects in our backyard. The Meadowhawk landed on various perches and would fly off and eat an insect and then return back to the same perch.
Rhyothemis variegata, known as the Common Picture Wing or Variegated Flutterer, is a species of dragonfly of the family Libellulidae, found in South Asia. They appear to have weak flight and can easily be mistaken for butterflies.

After serveral years of seeing few butterflies on the butterfly milkweed in my city park here, recently I got to enjoy a day when I saw six or seven species on the same day, including this nice fritillary.

Osmanthus meaning in Greek is Fragrant flower,
and heterophyllus having leaves of different types upon the same plant.
It makes little fragrant white flowers that attract Bees.
