Vaccine companies are rubbing their hands in glee and anti-vaccers live to fight another day.

I don't usually even take photos of House sparrows much less post them here, but this is an exception. This individual has been visiting our feeder since this summer and really stands out for her coloration-- a cream shade that approaches yellow. She presents a quite striking contrast with the other birds, and I've taken to calling her Blondie. I'm not sure whether this is a form of leucism or something else, but I find it fascinating.
The darkened gloomy sky is a negative influence over the orchard trees that are trying to put a happy twist on the holiday season.......much like the Omicron Variant of Co-vid is putting a supreme damper on our Christmas season.
The doorway opens to the multiverse where anything is possible.

Ljubljana is the capital and largest city of Slovenia, located along a trade route between the northern Adriatic Sea and the Danube region, north of the country's largest marsh, inhabited since prehistoric times. It is the country's cultural, educational, economic, political and administrative center.
The exact origin of the name Ljubljana is unclear. In medieval times, both the river and the town were also called Laibach in German. This name was used within the region until 1918 and continues to be used in German. In Italian, the city is referred to as Lubiana, and in Latin, it is known as Labacum.
The German name was first documented in 1144, and the Slovenian form appeared in records as early as 1146. The 10th-century work "Life of Gregentios" provides the Greek variant Λυπλιανές (Lyplianes) and situates it among the Avars in the 6th century. This account is influenced by an earlier northern Italian source written shortly after the conquest of 774.
The connection between the Slovene and German names has posed a puzzle for scholars. In 2007, linguist Tijmen Pronk, an authority in comparative Indo-European linguistics and Slovene dialectology from the University of Leiden, provided strong support for the theory that the Slavic ljub- meaning "to love, like" was the most likely origin. He argued that the river's name likely stemmed from the settlement's name. Silvo Torkar, a linguist with expertise in Slovene names, put forth the idea that Ljubljana's name has its roots in "Ljubija", the original name of the Ljubljanica River. This can be traced back to the Old Slavic male name "Ljubovid", which translates to "the one with a lovely appearance". Torkar also asserted that the name "Laibach" is a combination of German and Slovene, sharing its origins with the same personal name.
Prešeren Square (Slovene: Prešernov trg) is the central square in Ljubljana. It is part of the old town's pedestrian zone and a major meeting point where festivals (like the annual Ljubljana Dragon Carnival), concerts, sports, political events, and protests take place. It was redesigned according to plans by Edvard Ravnikar from a funnel-shaped to a circular form in 1987–88 and renovated in 2007.
The Triple Bridge (Slovene: Tromostovje, in older sources also Tromostje) comprises three bridges spanning the Ljubljanica River. It connects the historical medieval town on the southeastern bank with the central Prešeren Square on the northwestern bank. Dating back to the 13th century, it stands as the oldest bridge in Ljubljana. In the early 1930s, the architect Jože Plečnik redesigned and expanded it. In August 2021, the Triple Bridge was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of Plečnik's enduring legacy.

Beim Fotografieren mit der Holga aus der Hand, stößt man schon mal an die Grenzen des Machbaren. Erforderlich war die Belichtung auf ISO 1000. Wegen der stark verlängerten Entwicklungszeit sind die Hochlichter etwas dicht geraten. Schattenzeichnung ist zwar vorhanden, doch bei einer Belichtung, die noch Zeichnung in den Lichtern bringt, laufen dann die Schatten zeichnungslos zu. Ein Fall für die Zweischalen-Entwicklung.
Papier Fomabrom Variant 111 Gradationsfilter 4,8 für die Tonwertdifferenzierung im Stamm.
Erstentwickler ECOMOL 1+6 80 Sekunden
Zweitentwickler MERITOL 1+10 40 Sekunden für die Lichterzeichnung.

Mitte MT1 Selentoner 1+7 eine Minute, nach Wässerung gebleicht 1+20 30 Sekunden, MT5 Schwefeltoner 1+10 30 Sekunden.

When taking photographs with the Holga handheld, you sometimes reach the limits of what is possible. An exposure of ISO 1000 was required. Due to the greatly extended development time, the highlights are somewhat dense. Shadow detail is present, but with an exposure that still brings out detail in the highlights, the shadows become undefined. A case for two-tray development.
Paper: Fomabrom Variant 111 with filter grade 4.8 for tonal differentiation in the trunk.
First developer: ECOMOL 1+6, 80 seconds.
Second developer: MERITOL 1+10, 40 seconds for highlight definition.
Left untoned.
Centre MT1 selenium toner 1+7 one minute, bleached after washing 1+20 30 seconds, MT5 sulphur toner 1+10 30 seconds.
Right MT7 iron blue toner one minute.

This small bird is a winter migrant to India from parts of the Central Asia and middle East. It prefers dry areas and desert regions for its habitat and we found it all over the desert - infact it was the most common bird in that area - more than the myna's or bulbuls and sighted in the dry bushes and often coming to the ground.
Wikipedia refers to three distinct morphs of the bird and we sighted all 3 of them, though 2 seemed fairly common - the 3rd one - the white cap - was a bit uncommon but did sight a few times. The one we get down in the Southern India has white on the belly all the way till the neck. We never found it in our home state despite searching several seasons, but am so am glad that we sighted all the 3 variants.

Variante eines bereits vor Jahren einmal gezeigten Bildes:
Schwalbenschwanz - Raupe an ihrer Futterpflanze (Bibernelle) gegen die im Dunst untergehende Sonne auf einer hoch gelegenen Wiese.
Das Licht für die Raupe stammt von einem Reflektor und einer dezent eingesetzten LED Lampe.

Bei einem Negativ mit optimalem Kontrastumfang (hier 1,11 logD) spielt die Wirkungsweise des Positiventwicklers keine entscheidende Rolle.
Die als „richtig“ empfundenen Tonwerte können bei Multigrade-Papieren allein durch den Gradationsfilter bestimmt werden, denn es bleiben ja in beide Richtungen (weicher oder härter) noch alle Möglichkeiten der Anpassung, sei es aus persönlichem Geschmack, oder Schwächen des verwendeten Papiers.
Die Entwickler SE1 SEPIA und SE6 BLUE unterscheiden sich sowohl im Bildton, als auch geringfügig im Kontrast. Mehr Auswahlmöglichkeiten braucht es eigentlich nicht.
Um bei der Haarspalterei zu einem Ende zu kommen, trotzdem nochmals ein Vergleich mit DOKUMOL und ECOMOL.

Aus physikalischen Gründen haben matte Papiere (nach der Trocknung) eine geringere Maximalschwärzung als die glänzenden Oberflächen und damit zwngsläufig einen geringeren Kontrastumfang.

Die ganze Testerei hat Erkenntnisgewinn gebracht, ob daraus ein neues Produkt entsteht, ist eine schwierige Entscheidung. Wäre ich FDP-Sympathisant, könnte ich argumentieren, „der Markt wird’s richten“, doch der Markt ist ein launisches Wesen und könnte mir den Stinkefinger zeigen – nicht unwahrscheinlich in der heutigen Zeit.
With a negative with an optimal contrast range (here 1.11 logD), the mode of action of the positive developer does not play a decisive role.
With multigrade papers, the tonal values perceived as “correct” can be determined solely by the gradation filter, as all possibilities for adjustment remain in both directions (softer or harder), whether due to personal taste or weaknesses in the paper used.
The developers SE1 SEPIA and SE6 BLUE differ both in image tone and slightly in contrast. More choices are not really necessary.
To put an end to the hair-splitting, here is another comparison with DOKUMOL and ECOMOL.

All the testing has provided valuable insights, but whether this will result in a new product is a difficult decision. If I were an FDP sympathizer, I could argue that “the market will decide,” but the market is a capricious entity and could show me the finger – not unlikely in today's world.
