For the ‘Art is Immortal’ art exhibition, ‘The Art of Compassion’. 14/04/2024

The vampire stood in the twilight’s shadow, holding a bouquet of roses in his hands. They were a tribute to her, the woman who had taught him to love and feel compassion. He longed to feel the warmth of the sun one last time, as an echo of the human warmth she had provided him. As tears of blood fell upon the petals, the sun touched his skin, and in that moment of pain and beauty, he remembered the light she had brought into his eternal life.

In the context of the story, the vampire’s compassion for the woman reflects an emotional connection that transcends his nature. Despite being a creature of darkness, his ability to feel compassion brings him closer to his humanity. As a way to honor the woman’s memory and feel a final connection with her, the vampire risks feeling the warmth of the sun, knowing it will cause him pain. It is a symbolic gesture of his love and compassion, choosing to share the human experience of loss and remembrance.

modern vampires have developed

a resistance to it :)

In Montreal, La Ronde, is the big amusement park for those who have iron stomachs. And for those of us who don't, we stay with our two feet firmly planted on the ground!!!

This is the ride "Vampire", and it scared me more than any Bela Lugosi movie :)

Chapter I: The Fallible Revelation.

"Somewhere along today's modern prairie of debauchery and forgotten ambition lies the essence of humankind's ego. A fine and convoluted mess of what-ifs and soon to be has-beens. This fact remains the unspoken and sad perennial truth of your reluctant ontological overview on reality, doesn't it? And the real truth is.." The vampire explained before slowly willing herself to emerge rather gracefully from the shadowy depths, which had previously only exposed a luminous pair of sleepless eyes. ".. The moment you set foot down here you became inescapably doomed," the creature finished with the tiniest timbre of melancholy invading her somber explanation.

"I'm sorry to say that I spin no greater comedy upon either of you. Consider yourselves unlucky - curse your specific god, if it helps. It is what it is. And remember - this whole farce is Mother Earth's eternal punchline, and she ought to be afforded that credit."

Before the confused pair had digested the gravity of their situation she pounced at them with an indiscriminate and preternatural speed barely visible to the naked eye. Anguish, screams and finally their whimpering pleas came to an end - and as death passed the vampire by like some nameless vapor, which ultimately turns out to be nothing at all, she obtained some semblance of tranquility.

In regards to the unsuspecting couple who in their ultimate blunder had engaged this darling figure in curious pursuit down into those dank and subterranean maintenance tunnels - yes, it was their unmistakable end. As expected the vampire initially felt little to no remorse during any blood repast. By now it could be surmised and perhaps underlined that such a manipulative being had the intellect of a serial killer and the hunting prowess of a panther.

It was an elementary thing to tow victims into their final vista before the butchery began. This barbarous routine rarely demanded these extravagant mind games, but the vampire was nothing if not self-absorbed and theatrical in nature .. And it kept things somewhat interesting.

Or at least that is what she had been continually telling herself for untold centuries of time. Yes, an ocean of time had probably elapsed by now. Though perhaps within some violently repressed section of where the heart formerly pulsed epiphany and the sting of folly in pure nihilism was finally beginning to take its toll on her. No one knew, and certainly none were alive to speak otherwise.

Still working on a decent vampire look

Vampires are typically said to not have reflections or cast shadows. This is often portrayed in folklore as a physical characteristic of vampires.

It is also said they can't be photographed or recorded on film.

#TrickOrTreat

Size of the frame: 6 cm / 2,3 inches

Just in case a real vampire knocks on your door on 31st of October ;-) In my part of Germany there is no tradition of children dressing up and walking from door to door performing a little dance or singing a song in order to collect as many sweets (or whatever) as possible. There is "Rummelpottlaufen" in Northern Germany, and there are the "Sternsinger" ("star singers") in catholic areas, who, usually on Epiphany, walk from house to house, sing songs, and collect money for charity. Well, and in Berlin there indeed is the "Martinstag", St. Martin's Day, on 11th of November, when groups of young children walk along the streets with lanterns, accompanied by grown-ups. But they won't stop at anybody's door and ask for sweets. So I decided to stick to Halloween which has become very popular in Germany over the recent years as well. Important note: My "tricked treat" is meant as Halloween for grown-ups. Grown-up vampires ;-) I'd never replace sweets with garlic cloves or use liqueur filled chocolates such as "Mon Chéri" as a Halloween treat for children.

Processed entirely in Luminar (Accent Al filter, detail enhancer, micro structure, matte look, LUTs [Davos, if I remember correctly]), with finishing touches in ON1, where I'd applied some glow to make this garlic clove look a little more seductive ;-)

A Happy Macro Monday and Happy Halloween, Everyone!

Entwickelt in Luminar (u. a.

Vampire's Crypt

Something I've been wanting to build ever since Lego released those candelabra pieces.

This is a slightly smaller variation of the digital set revamp I made of the Lego Studios Vampire Crypt. With a few alterations here and there.

Seeing as I added Rodney Rathbone this could be seen as either an additional prequel or sequel to the Monster fighters sets.

The Norwegian Vampire duo display in the gloom at Dunsfold.

The De Havilland Vampire wasn't on the flight list, so it was quite exciting to hear its engines warm up and for it to perform a wonderful display at the Battle of Britain airshow at IWM Duxford. An aircraft I've always wanted to see in the air.

Two out of three de Havilland Vampires based at Västerås flight museum. The one closest to the camera is today painted in a silver livery.

Another funny minifigs moment

Here is the sixth in a series I took at Seoul's Comic World on Sunday March 15th. These kids were dressed as some sort of vampires. At least that's what I got of them. I took a couple hours on this, retouching skin & dodging and burning (non-destructively) to bring out highlights and lowlights to give it a "comic book" feel. This is not HDR, but just a lot of layer masks from a raw file manipulated in Photoshop. Thanks for checking it out.
