This time I did not use the in device mirror mode from the smartphone (ZTE Axon 30 Ultra) as this only works with JPEG
For this image I used a image in RAW/DNG from the ultrawideangel that was developed in Lightroom and mirrored in Photoshop
This allows better results (colors and white balance) than taking the in smartphone JPEGs from the stock camera app that offers the mirror mode for still images and video

Snowflake used to love to sit in the window and watch the snowflakes falling. I made this creation for my grand daughter Lydia that adored her and when Snowflake went to kitty heaven I got a silver frame and put this picture in it for her to remember her by.
Thank you all for the visit, kind remarks and invites, they are very much appreciated! 💝 I may reply to only a few comments due to my restricted time spent at the computer.

Song: Mercy, Mercy, Me (The Ecology)
Woah, ah, mercy, mercy me
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Where did all the blue skies go?
Poison is the wind that blows
From the north and south and east
Woah mercy, mercy me, yeah
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Oil wasted on the ocean and upon our seas
Fish full of mercury
Oh Jesus, yeah, mercy, mercy me, ah
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Radiation underground and in the sky
Animals and birds who live nearby are dying
Hey, mercy, mercy me, oh
Hey, things ain't what they used to be
What about this overcrowded land?
How much more abuse from man can she stand?
Oh, na, na, na
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Hey, ooh, woo

I used continuous lighting to get this image. I worked first on getting the screws of the balance wheel (the largest round object in the image) in focus as well as the motion from the back and forth movement. Then I cropped-in in post to be able to get the composition I wanted since the balance wheel is less than 1 cm diameter only. Hope you guys like it. HMM!!!

The Renaissance castle of Fontaine-Henry was built by the family d'Harcourt and it took nearly a hundred years to finish it (hence it's mainly a Renaissance building, finished in 1560, but it has some details that are in the Gothic style known as Flamboyant). There was actually a fortress built here already in the 11th century and in the beginning of the 13th century this was replaced by a castle (which might explain why it next to the current castle stands a very medieval chapel).
And yes, that is a very steep roof. Steep and high. When it was built it aimed to be the highest roof in France (not the highest building, mind you, the highest roof). It's a beautiful castle, but that is a little bit weird!
The castle is still owned by people who are direct descendants of the family who first started building this castle - though the surname has sometimes changed and the current owners carry the name d’Oilliamson - since it a few times was inherited by women. The house is still privately owned, but the interior can be visited on guided tours (no photography allowed, though).

A photo for today's Macro Mondays' theme "Single use", an Old Mout cider bottle top (highly recommend the kiwi & lime and pineapple & raspberry flavours; yum!).
When I decided to photograph this cap, I imagined a high-key, minimalist feel, but it seemed to fit a more grungy low-key-white feel.
I wonder if anyone photographs this type of shot in the same disorganized manner as I tend to do, with the set-up evolving in the most disorganized and amusing manner, and a huge mess of random 'props' to put away at the end of the shoot! This shot ended up involving a small piece of kitchen roll rolled up behind the bottle cap to balance it inside the white plastic toothbrush holder, which was precariously balanced on top of a random jar, lit by a head torch fastened to a tall bottle of olive oil, and I 'stabilized' my camera on a tin of biscuits!

This use to be the entrance to someones property probably 50 years ago or so..:) It's now the outdoor patio for a restaurant/bar. I'm happy they left this standing. I'm probably imaging a better house that use to be there than what was.I'm thinking a cozy rock, farmhouse style house..;) but, probably not..;)
Happy Weekend
I just got the tail end of the storm. Lots of lightning and thunder. The house shook a few times and we got a lot of rain. we're all good and no damage
Used to store water in Istanbul during Roman times. It was built by Roman Emperor Theodosius II between 428 and 443 to store water supplied by the Valens Aqueduct. Now it is used for art exhibitions.

Splash Page for the upcoming chapter of Sanquinolency: Book I which should be out in the next few days.
Also as a side note: I wanted to do this as a homage to those old mystery and thriller book covers that I used to look at and read when I was little.
🌳Taken at Jungle of Sin One of the owners, Jason Hassanov, was kind enough to show me some of the best spots on the sim the day when I was there looking for a suitable location for this shot. They're very nice people, and I appreciate their allowing us to use their wonderful sim.🌼

It's impossible to recover a movement blur with a sharpening filter : a sharpening filter will only add noise in this case but it will never recover details.
TOPAZ AI SHARPEN includes a new function called STABILIZE that is different from a simple sharpening filter. It tries to find a movement on the photo and to cancel it. That's why sometimes there are small artifacts on the opposite side of the movement, but it is really easy to deal with them with GIMP or photoshop.
To conclude : this tool deserves a try as it is free for 30 days.
It is very usefull for animals in movement (birds in flight, animals running ...), but it can manage movement of the photographer too.

From Sonnet 18
It is well known now as Shakespeare's phrase "The Darling Buds of May" was used as the title for his novel by H.E. Bates... which has since been adapted for television too 😊

Sonnet 18
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date;
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;
Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

This chapel, in Santa Maria del Popolo, was dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria and is named after Cardinal Jorge da Costa (who had acquired it in 1488 from the cardinal Domenico della Rovere). Cardinal Jorge has his burial to the right in this shot. To the left is the altar of the chapel, with Catherine of Alexandria in the middle, flanked by Saint Vincent and Saint Anthony of Padua. The altar dates to circa 1505, and the burial monument to circa 1508. The funeral monument in the wall between these two is the much later, is for Vincenzo Casciani and dates to 1833. The oldest piece in the chapel is the burial in front of the altar, that is for Cardinal Pietro Foscari, and dates to 1480 - it has been moved here from its original position, in a chapel that no longer exists.
Santa Maria del Popolo was built in 1472-1477, replacing a medieval church (said to have been built on the spot where the wicked emperor Nero had been buried - though this is now very much doubted and that founding history is more to be viewed as a myth). It was originally a pure Renaissance church, but got some remodelling done in the 17th century which gives the church a touch of Baroque too. The biggest claim to fame for the church is, probably, the two paintings by Caravaggio in a chapel to the left of the high altar.

Here's a night time photo I edited originally donated by Josh Felise. Thankyou my friend!
I used my Lightroom Landscape toolkit to change up some of the colours in the shadows and highlights and to edit some local adjustments in this image. We can see that a long exposure was used however the stars appear to be blurred.
I'd recommend the use of either high ISO/large aperture + exposure of about 30 seconds to freeze the stars in place or low ISO/small aperture + a super long exposure to form some cool star trails.
This Landscape toolkit for Lightroom will be released soon as freeware to download from my website!
