Great Spangled Fritillary butterfly leaning-in to gather nectar from the flower-head of a sharp Teasel thistle.
"Built by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) in September 1917, this 2-8-2 locomotive was moved from Battle Ground WA to Williams for the Grand Canyon Railroad. It is currently non-operational and is on display outside the Grand Canyon Railroad Ticket office in Williams Arizona". (Alan Vernon)

Founded by circus entrepreneur John Ringling and his wife, the museum represents the state museum of art in Florida. The Ringling Museum of Art is located near downtown Sarasota. It is a museum conglomerate. The art museum contains more than 600 paintings, sculptures and decorative art objects. Furthermore, there is a circus museum, the Mansion of Ca d'Zan, one of the largest estates in the U.S. and a historic park with a rose garden.

My attempt at stitching two shots taken from a moving vessel to make a panoramic shot of the American Falls (to the left) and Bridal Veil Falls (on the right) as we make our way towards Horseshoe Falls. For much of the time I couldn't see very well through my wet glasses, and my phone took a drenching, but we had a great day out.
This boarded up shotgun house may date to the early 20th Century. It would be nice to believe that it was saved and relocated for local historical preservation purposes.
Shotgun houses generally consist of a gabled front porch and two or more rooms laid out in a straight line. Rooms are directly connected without hallways. Shotgun houses may have derived their name from that room format, as it was sometimes said that a bullet shot from the front door would pass through the house without hitting anything and exit through the back door. However, the term may also be derived from togun, the Yoruba word meaning “house” or “gathering place.” Although shotgun houses are small, were inexpensively built, and generally lack amenities, they have been praised for their architectural virtues, which include the ingenious use of limited space and decoration such as gingerbread trim and brightly painted exteriors. They represent a unique African American contribution to architecture in the United States, dating from the early 19th century to the early 20th century.

The fountain is in a quiet room in which one needs to contemplate and calm down after going thru the exhibits taking one thru the history of the brutality and discrimination suffered by African Americans since they were brought to USA as slaves in 17th century. Visit this museum if you are in Washington DC.
