With the Metra parking lot empty in the background and a light snowfall in the air, WSOR T001 heads west through town a little before midnight ahead of the second to last outbound Metra train from Chicago. This is the end of the line these days for commuter service on the former Milwaukee Road "J Line" from Rondout to Janesville.

The red signal above the second car in the train marks the new end of signaled territory. CTC and a new siding at Libertyville are part of the upgrades completed so far on the 17 miles Metra operates west of Rondout.

After many years.. i have finally upgraded to a lelutka evo X head.. i've had the Catwa Destiny head since... 2016..

Of course.. i had some help to which i am eternally grateful <3..

Heading upgrade west of Bealville, California, is a Union Pacific stack train on the afternoon of February 26, 2016.

Charleston's iconic upgrade, the Arthur Ravenel Bridge constructed in 2005. It replaced 2 older bridges constructed in 1929 and 1966. The 1929 Bridge rated a 4 on a scale of 100,while the newer bridge was rated "imminently deficient". Senator Arthur Ravenal was instrumental in getting the Federal funding for this beauty...

Looking the opposite direction from the previous photo from the same outcrop, sparkling clean DE33 020 and DE33 066 throttle upgrade after meeting the previous train at Ulugüney. This was a truly fantastic spot to spend the morning with heavy traffic and a great view in both directions.

In late 1982, The South Branch Valley was busy improving its infrastructure, as witnessed by this tie train at McNeill, West Virginia, just south of the “trough”. The improvements were short-lived, because the line was virtually wiped out by severe flooding in 1985, and was not rebuilt until 1987. Without that rebuilding, it is doubtful that the Potomac Eagle operation would have ever existed.

CP 5936 and 6258 creep out across the Kennebec at Moosehead, ME with a rail train in tow. The train had taken the siding to allow CP 250-5 to pass. Afterwards, they would pull beyond the road for Brookfield Energy, and would proceed to drop the last 8 or so strands of rail.
