Crumb all printed up and going to France tomorrow. They are gorgeous in a Warholian Drella kind of way - the color. 2nd one sold yesterday to the author Richard Price, an old Bronx pal of mine. One left, should be back here by next week!
This is truly a rare phenomenon that grew out of my relationship with Crumb and I wanted to make those aware who I knew to be interested in art and artists.
Robert Crumb is a very private person and he has entrusted me with these prints provided I do not hawk them in the marketplace but rather distribute them discreetly. Though he is increasingly reluctant to sign his work, he has agreed to do so with this very limited edition.
The details are below, as is the back story of how I came to own two of his original drawings which have never been published in a book. That is why this edition is being offered by subscription. Six prints were made and sent to Crumb in France. Three will come back to me signed estimated by Thanksgiving Day.
Two of those three have already been bought, so there is one left of the "Red Lobsterman" that will go to the first buyer who commits.
Thanks again for your interest. If you know any other connoisseurs of Crumb who might have the means to subscribe, by all means forward this to them cc me so I know where it went.

PS, here is the back story:
Drawn in New York City on a Visit by Robert Crumb, a charming Crumb crustacean – comix art writ large.
It was a hot New York summer when we got a 2-week visit from Robert Crumb and his Cheap Suit Serenaders sidekick Robert Armstrong. My buddy Scott gave up his room for the visiting royalty and Crumb expressed his appreciation by making a couple of illustrations that Scottie could use for his lobster clambake business out on Long Island. I designed a silkscreen press and we made up tee shirts (red on white) with the image that all the workers wore as they brought this big step van around to Hamptons estates doing their mobile catering thing.
I have the original transfers from Crumb's pen-and-ink drawings on plain paper, which we used to make the silkscreen masters. Those silkscreen frames are long gone but I kept the master prints used to make 'em in a cellophane envelope all these years in my zippered loose-leaf journal. There are two of them – two in the world – and they are not for sale. The silkscreen was made by Harry Gross, an instructor at Pace College who also created many of the masters for Rosenquist, Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.
I saved the "Lobster Man" one that was toned in red and pasted to the side of our step van. And kept it in a frame. The ripples are the backing paper. It was a kind of heavy-duty butcher paper with a smooth side the image was printed to. The medium was a kind of vinyl ink.
I say "discreet" because this is not being sold by me on Ebay and it is not being advertised.

Every year this competition is held with millions of viewers and some absolutely fantastic and talented people perform. The evening was fast paced and i heard some really incredible new music. Really enjoyed this job.
