Golitha’s mysteries lurk unseen,
Beneath a canopy of green.
Huge granite boulders clothed in moss,
So slippery, too smooth to cross.
The tumbling waters falling down
To pools with eddies swirling round.
Who built those walls with stones so vast?
No single man in days gone past
Could move such weight or build so true,
And yet those walls cannot be new.
Were they once a hermit’s cell?
Their secrets they can never tell
And yet there is an eery feeling
Beneath this damp and dripping ceiling,
Branches rotting, breaking, falling,
Could this be a mystic wood?
Is this a place where Merlin stood.

happy sliderssunday!
I sprained my wrist and won't be able to develop film for a while. Meanwhile posting a round of old stuff.
What you see is Castle Rock (Lóndrangar) in Snæfellsness, Iceland. What is unseen is the wind causing the ice particles to hit the lens and sting my skin. I was pleased with how this photo turned out, but it brings back memories of my struggle to stay focused on the shot and to ignore the weather.

While attempting to take some images of my beautiful, flowery, flashy daisy's on a nice foggy morning I wasted a couple of images (hey kids remember film??) on the bamboo, lurking as always, above the flowers --- I've walked by it literally thousands of times and never really noticed the beauty of the bamboo until just now...
I love to capture Infrared images. I do not shoot them enough. Here is an image in the Great Smokey Mountains on a cloudy, rainy day. Infrared sees the unseen light that is available, the light we can't see.
Thanks for stopping by

The once verdant cornfields around here, the few that remain anyway, have withered into parched leaves and bone-dry stalks. They emanate eerie rustling sounds in response to even the slightest breeze. This is my favorite time of the growing season, even though it's the end phase. The visuals are simultaneously creepy and amazing. Yet I feel an odd sense of anxiety every time I hear a harvesting combine rumbling past the house. I always wonder if they are heading to one of the cornfields that I photograph. I have this completely unhinged sense of ownership for the fields I visit. The same feelings often develop around abandoned houses that I explore. For me it's a recurrent storyline that never ends well. Sooner or later I return to find only emptiness. The harvest is now over, but the emotion and even terror that played out here for me these past months lingers.
Masters at navigating, well seasoned ship handlers, experienced former ship captains mostly, on each and every travel, they pilot the ships safely, in and out of the port, into safety, out of harm's way! So here's one for you all unseen heroes. Salute and Godspeed sailors!
Light trails, why do we like them so much? My guess is because they give us opportunity to see something we know exist, but is not observable with our eyes. A glimpse into the unseen ;)
Just the sun trying to burn through the fog last week.
Flickr acting up again tonight refusing to let me comment or invite on some contacts. Hitting "Enter" in the comment box intermittently acts in the old way to move down a line but sometimes closes the comment box. I'm not going on Flickr tomorrow as a protest rather than posting a red image which generates more views.
