Nilo-Stolobenskaya Desert is a monastery on Stolobny Island on Lake Seliger. This monastery arose on the site of the feat of the Monk Nile, Stolobensky miracle worker..Nilova desert gave the world not only architectural masterpieces and spiritual treasures, but also significant scientific achievements..In 1528 the hermit Nil Stolobensky settled on the island of Lake Seliger. Prior to that, for thirteen years he lived in a dense forest on the banks of the Seremkhi River, but there he could not hide from human fame. In the first year of life on the island, he digs up a small cave in the mountain, where he spends the winter. In 1529 he built a hut and a chapel on the island. On December 7, 1554, the Monk Neil died, in 1560 a chapel was erected over his grave..The most intensive construction was carried out in the monastery in the XVIII century. The works were supervised by the contractor Foma Pavlov, a peasant of the sub-monastic suburb of the Trinity Selijarovsky monastery, a highly-gifted master. More than ten years, he has worked in Nil's desert..At the beginning of the 20th century, the Nilova Pustyn was the second most visited pilgrimage site in the world after the Holy Sepulcher. However, after the Bolsheviks came to power in Russia in 1917, her life quickly began to decline. On February 25, 1919, the cancer with the relics of Rev. Nil Stolobensky was blasphemously uncovered. Despite the difference in functional, chronological, stylistic features, all buildings and structures of the Nilova Hermitage represented a single and harmonious architectural complex, which is now a unique world-class architectural and landscape monument.

Unique world of the mountain valley
With this image of Mont Aiguille, I wanted to capture all the wild power and mythic character radiating from this iconic Vercors peak.
Using a dramatic black and white treatment, I aimed to reinforce the contrast between the mountain’s verticality and the heavy movement of the clouds above.
Light sculpting the rocky face highlights the monumentality of this stone giant, while the shadows plunge the surrounding forest into a storybook mood.
It’s this duel of brightness and darkness, mystery and monument, that I wanted to share: a vision both powerful and contemplative, where landscape becomes narrative, legend, and dream.
I hope this photo takes you into the unique world of this summit, whose silhouette transforms the entire surrounding panorama.

The Fusine Lakes are one of the most distinctive corners of the mountains in Friuli Venezia Giulia, being a unique world of nature.
Two basins of glacial origin, one upper and the other lower are connected by an underground system of waters that turn to ice in winter in one of the coldest corners of Italy. The magic of the cold in Fusine is the white story of the frost that draws its crystals on the icy surface of these basins or the white powdery blanket that covers the forest, leaving room for white paths where you can explore the wonder with snowshoes or skis.
Autumn brings amber reflections on the lakes and the colours of nature falling asleep fill the palette of emotions as well as the explosion of blossoms of the beautiful season
The lakes look out to the nearby mountains. The Ponze ridge and the Mangart, a huge grey dome towering in the background, are ideal terrain for hiking, via ferratas and some of the most challenging climbs in the entire Alpine region. The sport climbing cliffs of Masso Pirona and Ponze are perfect both for an introduction to the discipline and for those experts who want to challenge themselves.
The Zacchi Refuge, located in a dominant position above the lake basin, is an excellent place for rest and refreshment, which is easily reached also by families with children following the service road.
However, visitors only have to circle the two pools along the lakeshore trails to enjoy an experience of intimate connection with nature, the starring actress in Fusine.

China, Beijing, Great Wall, Simatai, roughly 120 km northeast of Beijing with 35 watchtowers over a stretch of 5,4 km, the Simatai section is only partially restored & is one of the few sections to retain the original appearance of the Great Wall for visitors.
Probably this part of the wall has the greatest number of watchtowers per km than any other section of the Great Wall & is bordered to the west by Jinshanling Great Wall.
Simatai Great Wall is divided into two subsections located on either side of the Yuanyang Hu, the Mandarin Duck Lake, which is fed by two springs, one hot & the other cold, with the result that the lake never freezes over even during the severest of winters.
After Simatai the wall swings southward, twisting east & west until it reaches the Jiangjun Pass, about 40 kilometers as the crow flies. Like most of the other sections of the Great Wall, the Simatai section was refortified by General Qi Jiguang during the reign, CE 1572-1620, of the Wanli emperor, Emperor Shenzhong of the Ming, CE 1368-1644, Dynasty.
Simatai Great Wall is known for its daunting precipices, for example, the Sky Bridge section of the Simatai Great Wall is more like a delicate cock's comb hazardously attached to the scrawny ridge of a mountain, being not more than 40 cm wide in most places.
Hanging precariously onto the Yanshan Mountain, the Simatai Great Wall is known for its steepness, it is possibly the most spectacular & most aesthetically striking section of the Great Wall of China, as the 1987 UNESCO recognition of Simatai Great Wall as a unique World Cultural Heritage Site also suggests.
There are three special features that sets Simatai Great Wall apart, it incorporates special style elements from the numerous other sections of the Great Wall, it has preserved, for the most part, its original Ming period refortification, both of which features make the Simatai section a uniquely representative section of the Ming period Great Wall & the military crews that conducted the work commissioned by General Qi left their mark on the wall, quite literally, in the form of stamps that identified the individual military unit, such as "Made by the infantry unit of suppressing heathen invaders in the 6th year of the Wanli Reign", or "Made by the Left Camp of Shandong in the 6th year of the Wanli Reign", or simply "Made by Qiangzi Camp".

There are three special features that sets Simatai Great Wall apart, it incorporates special style elements from the numerous other sections of the Great Wall, it has preserved, for the most part, its original Ming period refortification, both of which features make the Simatai section a uniquely representative section of the Ming period Great Wall & the military crews that conducted the work commissioned by General Qi left their mark on the wall, quite literally, in the form of stamps that identified the individual military unit, such as "Made by the infantry unit of suppressing heathen invaders in the 6th year of the Wanli Reign", or "Made by the Left Camp of Shandong in the 6th year of the Wanli Reign", or simply "Made by Qiangzi Camp".

Italien / Friaul - Weißenfelser Seen
The Fusine Lakes are one of the most distinctive corners of the mountains in Friuli Venezia Giulia, being a unique world of nature.
Two basins of glacial origin, one upper and the other lower are connected by an underground system of waters that turn to ice in winter in one of the coldest corners of Italy. The magic of the cold in Fusine is the white story of the frost that draws its crystals on the icy surface of these basins or the white powdery blanket that covers the forest, leaving room for white paths where you can explore the wonder with snowshoes or skis.
Autumn brings amber reflections on the lakes and the colours of nature falling asleep fill the palette of emotions as well as the explosion of blossoms of the beautiful season
The lakes look out to the nearby mountains. The Ponze ridge and the Mangart, a huge grey dome towering in the background, are ideal terrain for hiking, via ferratas and some of the most challenging climbs in the entire Alpine region. The sport climbing cliffs of Masso Pirona and Ponze are perfect both for an introduction to the discipline and for those experts who want to challenge themselves.
The Zacchi Refuge, located in a dominant position above the lake basin, is an excellent place for rest and refreshment, which is easily reached also by families with children following the service road.
However, visitors only have to circle the two pools along the lakeshore trails to enjoy an experience of intimate connection with nature, the starring actress in Fusine.

From Tarvisio reach the village of Fusine in the direction of the border crossing with Slovenia. Near the residential area of Fusine, at a fork in the road, follow the directions which, to the right, lead to the Fusine Lakes and the Zacchi Refuge. The asphalt road leads to the car park of the lower lake, which is a short distance away.

Die Weißenfelser Seen sind eine der charakteristischsten Ecken der Berge von Friaul-Julisch Venetien und stellen eine eigene Naturwelt dar.
Es handelt sich um zwei Becken aus der Gletscherzeit, ein oberes und ein unteres, verbunden durch ein unterirdisches Wassersystem, das sich im Winter in einer der kältesten Ecken Italiens in Eis verwandelt. Die Magie der Kälte in Weißenfels (Fusine) liegt in der weißen Geschichte des Frostes, der seine Kristalle auf die eisige Oberfläche dieser Becken zeichnet, oder in der weißen Puderdecke, die den Wald bedeckt und Raum für weiße Pfade lässt, auf denen man mit Schneeschuhen oder Skiern das Wunder erkunden kann.
Der Herbst bietet bernsteinfarbene Reflexe auf den Seen und die Farben der schlafenden Natur füllen die Gefühlspalette zusammen mit der Blütenexplosion der schönen Jahreszeit.
Die Seen schauen auf die benachbarten Berge. Der Ponzekamm und der Mangart, eine riesige graue Kuppel, die sich im Hintergrund erhebt, sind ein ideales Terrain für Wanderungen, Klettersteige und einige der anspruchsvollsten Klettertouren im gesamten Alpenraum. Die Sportklettergebiete von Masso Pirona und Ponze eignen sich sowohl für den Einstieg in die Disziplin als auch für diejenigen, die sich selbst übertreffen wollen, obwohl sie bereits Experten sind.
Die Zacchi-Hütte, die sich in beherrschender Lage über dem Seebecken befindet, ist ein hervorragender Ort zum Ausruhen und Erfrischen, der von Familien mit Kindern über die Zufahrtsstraße leicht erreicht werden kann.
Aber es genügt, die beiden Becken auf den Uferwegen zu umrunden, um eine Erfahrung des tiefen Kontakts mit einer Natur zu machen, die in Weißenfels die Hauptrolle spielt.

This is one of the Rhino's leftover from "Rhino Mania", a unique, world-class art project that took place over 10 weeks from early July to mid September 2010. 70 Rhino's located from the river to the Business Park, out to the Zoo and into the neighbourhoods created a trail encouraging thousands of people to follow the stampede.
The individual designs on each Rhino highlighted a range of subjects from climate change to environmental issues and animal extinction.
This one is outside Hickory's Smokehouse on the River Dee.

This second shot of three of the Ffestiniog Railway taken on 29.9.2012 at Porthmadog sees 'Double Fairlie' 0-4-4-0T No 10 Merddin Emrys speed away towards 'The Cob' tidal barrage with the day's first departure for Blaneau Ffestiniog.
This remarkable engine was built in the Ffestiniog's Boston Lodge Works in 1879. It's a great testament to the volunteers who've worked so tirelessly since 1955, when restoration began, to provide a unique world-class 2ft narrow gauge railway.

Le complexe de bureaux se compose de sept étages avec 22 000 carreaux de terre cuite de Florence, ce qui donnera au complexe un aspect unique.
World-renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta, known among other things for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, designed an office complex for the city of Genk. He did it on behalf of the LRH company, which managed to secure Botta's first project on Belgian soil. The office complex consists of seven floors with 22,000 terracotta tiles from Florence, which will give the complex a unique look.

The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is a panoramic road in Austria. The most famous route through the Alps ends just before the jewel in the Hohe Tauern national park's crown: the highest mountain and the largest glacier in Austria, the Großglockner 3,798 m and its glacier, the Pasterze. You will have a driving and nature experience of a special kind on 48 kilometres of high alpine road with 36 bends, and an altitude ascent to 2,504 metres!
