2019 var 32 % av EU:s befolkning unga under 29. Andelen unga förväntas ligga kvar på ungefär samma nivå. 2052 förväntas den ha sjunkit till 28,6 %. Bland EU-länderna är det Irland som har störst andel unga. Om man tittar närmare på andelen unga i varje region ser man stora skillnader. 2019 var det Mayotte som hade störst andel unga (66,9 %) medan Asturien hade lägst (22,5 %).
