With the Millennium Development Goals coming to a close and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under consideration, the international community has a unique opportunity to define the next priorities for global development. Coming on the heels of this year’s United Nations General Assembly meeting, a panel of three development experts discuss key issues that are underrepresented – or missing altogether – on the SDG agenda: climate change, peace and governance, and reproductive health.

A delegation from Rwanda is attending the 74th United Nations General Assembly in New York. With a strong focus on climate change this year's UNGA will also include the UN Secretary-General's Climate Action Summit. A delegation from the Environment and Natural Resources Sector led by Minister Biruta is in New York for the General Assembly and a number of other bilateral meetings and side events.

During the weekend of September 21-22, 2019 Connect4Climate invited a group of communications students from Montclair State University and Brooklyn College to lead a new #YouthTakeover during the UN Youth Climate Action Summit in New York City. The team had the opportunity to meet young climate leaders from around the world, interview drivers of change, and provide their fresh perspective on climate solutions to a global audience.
