First Lady Jeannette Kagame attended OAFLA High Level Event that was held on the margins of the 72nd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

 

The First Lady joined the President of OAFLA, First Lady of Ethiopia, Roman Tesfaye as well as fellow African First Ladies to discuss the theme: 'Global Partnership towards Harnessing the Demographic Dividend in Africa.'

 

The First Lady took part in a panel discussion that explored the theme: 'Implementing the AU Roadmap to Harness the Demographic Dividend in Africa: Ending AIDS by 2030.'

 

The event was held on 19 September 2017.

The Commission is co-convened by the Norwegian Prime Minister alongside President Michelle Bachelet of Chile, President Joko Widodo of Indonesia, President Peter Mutharika of Malawi and the Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova.

Also in attendance, First Lady of Mali, Mrs. Keita Aminata Maiga, Director General of UNESCO, Ms. Irina Bokova, as well as other participants.

 

The event explored the theme: Women, Children and Trauma of Extremism.

Later on in the afternoon, United Against Nuclear Iran protested with Iran180 infront of the Warwick Hotel NY.
