I wanted to depart a bit today from my normal non-Manitoba winter Saturday fare. I photographed some Bighorn Sheep rams just before 3-4 Roadrunners (that I have been posting in this slot the past few weeks) on the same morning. It was an unforgetable Saturday in California around this time of the year.
After a gloomy, cold and wet winter, Tuesday 13th March was a unforgetable day. Firstly the weather was glorious, warm and sunny. Secondly I had the opportunity to be part of a Matt Fielding photo charter on the SVR with the GE S.D. Holden B12 locomotive. Visiting from the North Norfolk Railway for the Spring SVR steam gala. This locomotive is so photogenic and looked the business with 7 Gresley teak coaches. A truly memorable day.
When I turn arround I am overwhelmed by one of the most beautiful landscape I have ever seen.
The Rottumeroog salt marsh unfolds at my feet like a beautiful giant natural flower bouquet, as far as my eye can see.
The predominant purple-pink color of the sea asters are alternated with the fresh green of grasses and other salt marsh plants, alternated with the soft silver-grey leaves of the sea wormwood.
It is an unforgetable moment to see this dynamic area that is considered a rarity........

“Aurora in Yellowknife: A short but very impressive and unforgetable adventure !!! We saw the northern lights on 3 from 4 nights. Unfortunately, I was sick on 1 night...but I have to be satisfied.
I will never forget this expirience ! It was cold (-38°C) and expensive haha but also awesome and beautiful !
By -38°C it is difficult to operate with the camera, but I think I still managed to make some pretty good pictures of the Northern Lights ... for the first time in my live. It was breathtakingly beautiful and we were very lucky that we had such clear nights.”

Finally a real winter picture !!!
I miss you so much my dear son but we are united under the same sky. I look up at the sparkling stars and think of you.
His photo touches me so much that I would like to share it here with my dearest friends. My son is still in Canada and has some time left with some friends to discover the beauties of nature in this wonderful Land. They flew to northern Canada a few days ago to see maybe the Northern Lights. The weather conditions seemed good, but the temperatures made them sit up.
Another little story by the way: Until then, my son just photographed with his cell phone. Before he started the journey in northern Canada, he bought a camera to photograph the northern lights properly. He and his friends only had a few days left.
But what they saw on these days, better expressed nights, was simply breathtaking. The Northern Lights in all their beauty. To mention would be the temperature. It was bitterly cold at nights, but it was also the best conditions to photograph the northern lights, because the sky was so clear and beautiful. Look at this thousands of stars !!!
I was also very surprised that Jonah photographed the northern lights for the first time with a camera and that he was able to capture it so beautifully. He seems somehow a nature talent. Great respect, my son.
I was so happy about his wonderful nature photos that I asked him if I could share a picture with my friends here. He was very pleased about my project and is happy to share his picture here.
Taking pictures also means to Jonah, who enjoys sharing it with others.

Ludovico Einaudi - Burning (In a Time Lapse)
After the visit to San Gimignano and surrounding areas I spend three days in a beautiful Country Hotel named Borgo Tre Rose, with 360° of view of the wonderful hills and vineyards of Tuscany.
I intended to visit Pienza, Val d'Orcia and Lago Trasimeno, unforgetable places of the Tuscany and Umbria region, but unfortunately I had not health conditions to do this.
As you can see in the next photos this place is very pleasant and appropriate to relax. The view from there is fabulous, and the amount of flowers had enchanted me and made me forget for a while everything that I have missed in this region.
We are fire and water; we cannot exist together, but somehow we always find our way to each other.

Well, it’s “Cosmic Ice Dragon Riding a Leaf”, the “Leaf of Hope” to be precise.
I guess what the dragon doesn’t know is he/she is melting and the leaf is dead, but stories have a way of working out despite the odds.
It’s too soon to tell the tale, but I am taking notes and the dragon lives in hope
