Did a wallpaper for my lovely modern dancer, Naomi.
She was in this animal like pose when i saw this image in my head.
Took around 120 layers (in total) and a lot of different textures, all shot/made by my self accept 1 was a free download but sadly with no credit info in it/next to it..

Today we done our daughters school portrait which was fun :)
This was taken in our front room with my daugther sitting on the leather toy chest, I went wide for this one as it showed her picture which we took at Birling Gap above her head.
The traditional school pictures I took will be printed out for our walls.
I pulled the seat away from the wall and turned it diagonally and asked my daugther to sit on it and turn her head towards me.
To the camera left I had my Elemental ultra pro studio head with beauty dish and set at 1/2 power.
To the camera right I had my Nikon SB600 with see through umbrella set at 1/2 power and zoomed to 70mm.
Nothing fancy just put the flashes nice and close and same width away from my daughter.

Today it's snowing and bitterly cold outside, far too much for sledging. So instead, I setup my boom and studio-flash which have been gathering dust for the last 3 months. This is pretty much the only half decent shot I got of Kai, he just didn't want to sit still for any length of time today. I really should have used a reflector to soften some of those shadows, especially under his chin..

Since the engine was on the stand I wanted to compair the "easy" valve setting versus the EO/IC method to find the cam base circle.The EO/IC method MUST be used with this cam,it makes a difference.

EO/IC method= Turn engine in normal rotation,when the Exhaust valve begins to open,adjust the Intake valve lash,,,,Continue in direction of rotation until the Intake valve reaches max.lift and almost back closed,then adjust the Exhaust valve lash.

Everythings set,time for the Intake.Comp XE282 Solid lifter Cam with the Pulsed Plasma Nitriding process,1.6In. 1.52Ex. Ultra Pro Magnum Rockers,Cloyes Billet True Roller timing set with captured needle bearing and thrust button,Inner Springs Removed For Cam Break-in.I did not take a picture of the cam??it had a very smooth black finish on the lobes from the Plasma Nitriding process,it also was not a small base circle cam commonly used with this setup,the Callies 6.000" rods are "stroker" clearanced.Cam specs.with rocker ratio used are:284/290 @ .015", 246/252 @.050", 158/164 @ .200" . Lift = .555" In. .548" Ex. 110 deg.LSA, installed at 105.5 deg.LCA{4 deg. advance ground in}and a 1/2 deg.advanced to allow for chain stretch. 68 degree overlap.

The stock SBC uses a 1.875" diameter cam journal,which means that in order to create additional lobe lift,the cam grinder is forced to make the base circle of the cam increasingly smaller in order to fit the taller lobes,and with a longer stroke the lobe to rod clearance becomes another common problem.

The Harvey Crane "intensity" rate is 38deg.,most factory cams have a hydraulic intensity rate in the region of 70deg.,the larger the number,the lower the intensity rate,the "intensity rate" can be used at different lift points for comparison also,by subtracting the degrees at the lift points, the speed of the cam profile can be determined.The smaller the number between the two lift points,the greater the tappet acceleration and the higher it's speed is{intensity}.

Comp Cam's new rocker design,Ultra Pro Magnum,on Dart's new head design,Pro 1 Platinum.Comp Hi-Tech push rods.The induction system,cam,and valve train should be capable of around 500RPM higher than I plan on revving the engine to with this setup,I did not want the eng. to nose over at the top of the RPM range.The rocker is heavy "in the hand" but lighter than a aluminum "at the valve".

Rocker Ratio:
Increasing the rocker ratio does not change the opening and closing point of the cam lobe.However,once the rocker arm begins it's valve lift curve,the increased ratio opens the valve sooner and closes the valve later throughout the lobe lift, and over the lobe nose, in relationship to piston position.This creates more duration,lift,and area under the curve with it's more aggressive lift curve.The seat to seat timing at the lobe remains the same with a rocker ratio change,but the valve is traveling faster{or slower}with a ratio change once the valve begins to move,with the seat timing at the lobe measured at .015" lift,rocker ratio,and changing lash settings will alter timing at the valve.All four timing events move by advancing or retarding the cam,Example:XS282S advanced 2 degree,installed at 104 Intake Centerline with 1.5 rocker:

By making independent lash changes on the intake valves,then on the exhaust valves with lash loops,the timing events for each the intake and exhaust can be separated for a better understanding of what the engine wants to make power.Of the four intake and exhaust opening and closing points,the intake closing point is by far the most important in relationship to TDC to shape the performance curve and peak torque RPM.
Lash Loops:
A crude rule of thumb for lash changes is roughly 1.5 degrees of duration for .001" of lash change.Tightening the lash has the effect of lenthening the effective cam duration,and loosening the lash has the effect of shortening the effective cam duration{also changes total valve lift}.Lash settings can be used to change the effective duration of the intake,and or exhaust timing events to fine tune duration{also changes overlap}.Tightening the valve lash by .004" adds roughly 6 degrees of total duration seat to seat.Adjusting lash settings for cylinder balance and runner length{Comp Cams 4-pattern cam grinds}:

Longer Runner:needs a bigger lobe{more duration later closing}to flow same air volume to cylinder as short runner.
Short Runner:needs a smaller lobe{less duration,earlier closing}to balance air volume in the cylinder.
The intakes tested exhibited lean outboard cylinders at low engine speeds,while trending toward lean inboard cylinders at higher speeds.

Tightening or loosening the lash,changes both the opening and closing timing points of the valve,unlike the 4-pattern grind does by only changing the IVC and EVO timing points.But with a .001" change in lash on the long runner cylinders 1,2,7,8 on either the intake,exhaust,or both,in the correct direction of theory,it may help balance out the cylinders better for all around driving,and during WOT for my street engine,with some solid lifter cam lash loop experimenting to see if I can notice any difference with it.

Overlap is found by adding the exhaust closing{EC} to the intake opening{IO}= total overlap.
An early IO{BTDC},and a later EC{ATDC} increases overlap.

Here is the clean floorpan after having been washed out with soap and water.
A hose and a shop-vac would have worked best, but I did it in the garage with a spray bottle of detergent & water and another bottle of clean water. A stiff brush to scrub, a sponge cut from thick packing foam to soak up the dirty water, a bucket of clean water to rinse the sponge, and a half roll of Viva paper towels worked well to dry. Afterwards I cut away the sealer around the four oval body plugs, as rust was present underneath. Luckily, the rust ended before reaching the plug openings. The rust all formed from the top, working its way down. Either the top had leaked once or a previous owner left the windows down too many times in the rain…
After thoroughly dry, the floor was vacuumed once again.
The next day, the perimeter body seams were resealed with 3M Ultrapro 08300 body seam sealer. Although the 08505 is more widely available, 3M has had complaints of the odor lingering inside cars for up to a month after installation. The 08300 was later recommended by 3M to use inside.
The next day the entire floor pan will be painted with POR15 clear to protect against any future moisture.

1.60 Intake,1.52 Exhaust This is Comp Cams redesigned Pro Magnum rocker,they were such a new design at the time of purchase that they did not have them ready to ship so I waited for them to finish building and testing to get them.
