The Geisel Library is the main library building on the University of California, San Diego campus and contains four of the six libraries located on campus. It is home to the Arts Library for the Art Architecture and Music, Film & Video Libraries, the Mandeville Special Collections Library, the Science & Engineering Library, and the Social Sciences & Humanities Library.
The building is named in honor of Audrey and Theodor Seuss Geisel (better known as Dr. Seuss) for the generous contributions they have made to the library and their devotion to improving literacy. The Geisels were long-time residents of La Jolla, where UC San Diego is located.

The crew of eight walk their shell to the beach for launch, guided by their coxswain (on and off the water).
Looking at the Library William Pereira at the UCSD Campus, it's like a spaceship. It sits on a high point of the campus with axes going to it. The figural shape of the building gets read against the backdrop of sky.

I pass by this building by the 5 freeway several times a week, I have been wanting to photograph this for a while and took advantage of a little break in the day to do so. I will have to go back and see how the building reflects the color of the sunset.
