There is a lot of water coming off the moors and mountains surrounding Glen Coiltie following 3 named storms in a week hitting the British Isles. Whilst we avoided the worst of the wind we were hit by a lot of rain and snow which is now flowing down the glen and on into Loch Ness.
Carnisk, Ramelton, County Donegal, Ireland
This ancient Irish woodland on the banks of the river Lennon is known as Drummonaghan Woods. This area is one of Donegal’s most stunning locations to visit each Autumn and observe all the various autumnal colours of the different leaves which carpet the forest floor. From warm reds to yellows to golds, basically any colour which represents autumn can all be found here 🍂
The river Lennon meanders its way through these woods then becomes a large half-moon shaped waterfall known as ‘The Salmon Leap’. Overlooking this waterfall is Carnisk Bridge in which you can stand on and gaze at the beautiful reflections of trees on the large pool of water below, before it rushes over the waterfall and under the old stone bridge towards Ramelton village then finally outwards to sea.

Some asked for a close up so here you go! Compared to the Raptor launcher version this one has wheels replacing the feet as obviously it's self launching here ; )
A small combat drone used to patrol the vicious airspaces of the Frontier.
Kind of a tablescrap/WIP, I'm somewhat happy with the upper body but I'm ambivalent about the rest. Trying to build more on a theme here, I'm running with the protruding sensors on the front wing (I've done the same thing to my previous LAV and multiped).

You may have seen earlier in my Photostream I’ve shot a few of these creations over the summer as most of them have appeared more or less on my virtual doorstep
I was very glad to be able to capture this one as its probably the last one of the season as the harvest draws to a close (indeed this circle was in a field surrounded by other fields that have already been cleared)

For those unfamiliar with crop circles, they are patterns created by flattening a crop usually a cereal. The term was first coined in the early 1980s. Although obscure natural causes or alien origins of crop circles have been suggested by fringe theorists, there is no scientific evidence for such explanations, and all crop circles are consistent with human-made items (although with the more elaborate ones, its not always possible to see how!)
Although such formations have appeared worldwide, south-west England is considered without doubt to be the “world capital” of crop circles. They are particularly concentrated in the county of Wiltshire, where a treasure trove of ancient history includes the Neolithic sites of Stonehenge and Avebury – both crop circle hotspots. There have been 380 crop circles recorded in the county alone since 2005
Ballintoy, County Antrim, Northern Ireland
This unique & famous rope bridge is the only one of its kind in all Ireland. Connecting the mainland to Carrick a Rede Island, this 20-meter rope bridge was erected in 1755 to guide the local fishermen to their boats. Carrick a Rede island was once an active salmon fishery for over 400 years until relatively recent times. An old fisherman’s bothy(cottage), old ropes & nets are still visibly scattered across this island, echoing it's once thriving fishery.
This location was actually the centre of an ancient volcano millions of years ago! Isn’t it amazing how everything changes through time? Nowadays it’s a major tourist attraction on the ‘Causeway Coastal Route’ offering an exhilarating coastal path & rope bridge experience across to the rocky island. Rathlin Island & the Scottish Isles can be seen from here on a clear day. All whilst standing next to a noisy seabird colony amongst the flora & unique volcanic geology of this small island.

The Switchblade is a proposed UAV,The proposed aircraft would be a purely flying wing (an aircraft with no other auxiliary surfaces such as tails, canards or a fuselage) where the wing is swept with one side of the aircraft forward, and one backwards in an asymmetric fashion.[2] This aircraft configuration is believed to give it a combination of high speed, long range and long endurance.[

Muckish, Derryveagh Range, County Donegal, Ireland
Muckish or An Mhucais means “The pig's back”. As part of the “Seven Sisters” mountain chain which make up the Derryveagh mountain range, Muckish is a very distinctly shaped flat-topped mountain which resulted in her gaining this curious name.
Our ancestors believed that Muckish was a true magical mountain and that it was actually a giant sleeping pig! hence the name "The pig's back". Some say that the rock which forms this mountain passes continuously through the earth and comes out in Australia at another mystical place called ‘Uluru’. Personally, I don't know if it holds any actual magical powers, but it certainly has a magical look and feel to it which makes any open minds wander.
Looking upon her during winters snow, my mind drifts away just like our ancestors once done…. I can also visualise a giant pig laying sleeping on top of a soft bogland heather mattress, all snuggled up under her giant snow-white blanket awaiting the warmth of Spring on the horizon to reawaken from her winter slumber once more

A dying breed are Pointer Darts once so common in London but now only a handful survive south of the river. Three were on Go-Ahead London Central's B16 today (LDP194, LDP206 & LDP274) with LDP 206 SN51 UAV (wearing a delicate shade of pink!) depicted here in High Street, Eltham. Wednesday 25th July 2018.

Go-Ahead London Central LDP206 SN51 UAV is now the oldest vehicle performing TfL duties, so make the most of it because this one and the other remaining Pointer Dart at BX (LDP 274) are earmarked for imminent withdrawal. LDP206 is seen here in Broadway, Bexleyheath on the B16. Incidentally both vehicles were on the B11 yesterday. Saturday 30th November 2019. DSCN50664.

Both vehicles last day was Wednesday 4th December with LDP274's last working on the B11 arriving back at BX at 1108hrs and LDP206 on the B16 arriving back at BX at 1854hrs. The end of an era.

It is incredible to believe that three 51 plate Darts and still providing front line service with Go-Ahead London Central at Bexleyheath. LDP206 SN51 UAV is captured working the B16 in Eltham High Street. The others are LDP193 SN51 UAE & LDP194 SN51 UAG. Saturday 13th January 2018. DSCN43939.
