The Macro Monday theme for 2/21 is in honor of Tuesday, which will be 2/22/22 or if you write the date in the continental style 22/2/22.

And here is my opportunity to teach .. grin.. because each of the letters in TWO is symmetrical down the center, when its reflection shows up only the point value of the letter is on the wrong side/reversed.. if you look in the first comment box you'll see what the tiles looked like in the second tier- back to back.

*Btb, the scrabble travel tiles are a half an inch square.

verification of that is also in the first comment box

Please see the reference (Twosday) as 2/22/22 on a Tuesday (2).

From our last hike at Myakka River State Park in Sarasota, FL.

I loved the sky and touch of pink in the clouds.

Happy Tree-mendous Twosday!

02-22-22

It was a difficult day at work and I'm tired.

(But you took your camera with you and look at those clouds!)

It's going to rain! I'll get down to the beach and be disappointed and tired!

(No you won't. It's going to be spectacular!)

It's a storm coming in. Probably nothing great.

(You'll be disappointed tomorrow when you see all the great photos on social media groups people took and you missed it.)

By now I'd already driven past the mobile park and I was on my way to Redondo Beach. In South Bay "drive time" traffic, sort of like a parking lot.

And yet...

Yes it started raining about a half hour after I parked, but I got some great shots. I was just about to leave and the rain stopped, the sun came out behind the cloud, and all thoughts of disappointment ceased to exist as I got into "photoholic zone".

I was pretty much the only one on the beach. It was cold, and it was incredibly windy. I was dressed for rain. I was okay. I stuck around until sunset.

While I pulled away from the Esplanade and started to drive home, Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry Be Happy" came on the radio.

I began to cry. (tears of happiness and cosmic circumstance)

And I got to post a photo on twosday! 02-22-22. That won't happen again in my lifetime.

One of the shots I took during my after work sojourn to Torrance Beach to photograph the sunset prior to the last storm. Although a relatively weak storm, there were two evenings with beautiful photographic opportunities, and I was able to get a lot of photos as the sun was setting on Twosday.

The sun's last rays pierce through the clouds as it sets on 2/22/22.

A very wet Bald Eagle waits out the rain. It wasn't raining when we headed to the lake but started to when we got there. There were probably 30 eagles around the lake today!

We've sure had our share of crazy weather of late. Snow squalls, followed by near 60-degree temps and last night it was Thunder Sleet!! Snow is forecast for later in the week.

PS: Happy Twosday. (2-22-22)

leucism

from

WIKIPEDIA

The abnormal feathers on these birds are the result of a genetic condition called leucism (pronounced LUKE-ism), which prevents pigments from reaching some—or sometimes all—of a bird's feathers. ... Problems with tyrosinase lead to problems making melanin, the pigment that gives skin, feathers, and eyes their color.

This is a huge tree, a wild prunus that has been heavily bent by the wind and yet survived and still gives its plums in the season.

Edit April 2024:

I would like to dedicate my photo to my neighbour Romeo. This wild prunus plant is placed in his ground, a non cultivated field, at one step distance from my garden. Recently he had gifted me his tree, giving me permission to take care of it during the seasons, included the pruning of the branches. Romeo left us prematurely last January 25 2024 for a sudden heart stroke. He was only 54, a generous guy. This tree bears now his name, Romeo, and, in the moment I'm writing this memory, it's bountifully blossoming white little flowers.

Colours & Light in one ... from the Land of Grace

One summer morning I met " ΓΑΪΤΑΝΑΡΟΣ " on the rocks, her usual winter home.

Smoothly she would sail throught the ocean's currents, first with oars, then only with the fair wind.

The voice of the sea was as seductive as ever, never ceasing, whispering, murmuring, inviting the soul to wander the blue archipelagos and the remote islands.

Precious oblivion, you leave everything behind and you live, you wander, you observe, you dream and you make your life a feast,a poem ...

" Absence, the Highest Form of Presence "

And, " You’ll Miss Me more as the narrowing weeks wing by; Someday duly, oneday truly, twosday newly, till whensday.

We'll meet again, we'll part once more."

From Joyce's final work - Finnegans Wake ... to you all ♥

I ,too,will Miss You Dearly ... ♥

Update I :

" ΓΑΪΤΑΝΑΡΟΣ " was privately uploaded and was meant to be my Farewell photo, but the hot summer started earlier and brought my holidays forward.Little my spare time for any Flickr interactions.

Update II :

All was so calm and summery in the island of Paros on the 22 & 23 of Sept, there were no signs at all of what was on the way.

** Medicane Cyclone “Zorbas” was slowly but catastrophically dancing Sirtaki above my boat friends,"ΥΠΑΡΧΩ" & " ΓΑΪΤΑΝΑΡΟΣ" .

The rare weather phenomenon started forming in the Ionian Sea on early Friday, Sept 28 and continued to move eastwards until Sunday evening, Sept 30.It brought torrential rainfalls and gale force winds to southern Greece, before reaching Attica, the island of Evia and the Cyclades.Shortly after Zorbas left us, it was Summer again.

As you see, climate change hasn't forgotten Greece.

Hope "ΥΠΑΡΧΩ " & " ΓΑΪΤΑΝΑΡΟΣ " ,my summer friends, are still alive and ready again to travel my dreams.

Comparatively as ducks go : some tips

the long neck and elegance of NOPI is diagnostic on the water and in flight

GWTE is small and compact, and usually reads as smaller/slimmer billed when compared to other western ducks, and especially other teal

at times they walk along the edge feeding, and because of their small size, at distance can be mistaken for shorebirds

2 Tundra Swan TUSW (Cygnus columbianus)

&

2 Trumpeter Swan TRUS* (Cygnus buccinator)

In Greater Victoria i would say the ratio would be 1 - 3 TUSW in 700 TRUS (Overwintering)

Most years have at least 1 and most often it would be a Juvenile/Immature .

it took careful attention...and a photo doc review afterwards to confirm ID... it was getting dark...Bino views only

At the time the Immature was reading off for a TRUS....small... lack of black to eye.. and "Dog Leg " pattern on bill to feathering

The other mature bird facing camera has tell tale yellow lores

What is tough here is that the TRUS relaxing neck posture is similar height to the TUSW

Tunnel Motor Dash-Twosday

Here we were stopped in the siding at Lee's Summit on the UP Sedalia Sub. with MNA Train MNAKC 02, running as the LMNPHJ 03 while on the Union Pacific. We were in the hole for an MNA grain train that never showed up due to it laying down on Independence Hill.

We were sent to Rock Creek Jct. to cut off our train and then push the stalled grain load up Independence and Lee's Summit Hill with the power seen here.

A couple hours later, we shoved another train up the hill after it laid down. That was a UP coal train for West Labadie that should have ran the UP River Sub., but was detoured thanks to a weather-related signal outage. Heavy train, mid-snow storm and underpowered on one of the state's steepest grades; seems like a great way to make a fun experiment turn into a disaster. Brilliant plan!

I have to admit, that ranked in my top 5 most fun days at work so far. I'm pretty sure I was the only guy who ran a speed lettered SD45 tunnel motor in helper service that day. That slack run in though on the rear end. DAMN!
