I spotted a pair of juncos flying up from the brush, fluttering around each other, then landing in a tree near me. Got a few shots of the male before they drifted off together.
This handsome cow had this suitor twitterpated. He followed her for a long ways, till a bigger bull came along......Always interesting to watch bison during the rut when passions are high.
While the terms bison and buffalo are used interchangeably, in North America the scientific name is bison. Actually, it's Bison bison bison (genus: Bison, species: bison, subspecies: bison), but only saying it once is fine. Historians believe that the term "buffalo" grew from the French word for beef, "boeuf."
Enjoy a wonderful weekend!!
Titles, titles, titles.....
This well-racked bull was obviously a bit twitterpated with this pretty cow elk. Doesn't appear though that she was too interested. They are such fun and fascinating to watch during the rut.
A couple more shots of this encounter in comments.
May you have a loverly weekend as well.
Thanks for your visit. Always appreciated!
Sorry if this is a bit graphic, but it's not unusual in the moose world. During the annual rut, in the presence of a cow moose, a bull may drool, lick its lips repeatedly and "display". When they are in this state, it's best to be far away or in a vehicle. In this case I'm in a vehicle and the cow is about 40 yards behind our car.
We found this guy and the object of his affections in Kananaskis Country, Alberta. (Thanks James).
Honey, Don't Go...
This lovelorn bull elk wasn't happy when his lady elk wandered away.
They are fascinating to watch.
Thanks for taking a look!
A very important photo I forgot to upload from Fantasy Faire Quest blogging.
"Delighted! Smittened! Twitterpated! HOOTERPATED EVEN! The bird that awaited the vested owl even called him a trusted friend! Today was certainly shaping up to be quite a day for Tempie, as not only could he converse with such a beautiful bird, the young phoenix would be accompanying him! But before he could speak the poetry in his heart to her, it was time to make haste to the far away land of Sipala in search of the dragonlings."

I definitely have spring fever. I think I've visited this magnolia tree on 4 separate days. It's in full bloom right now. Happy Earth Day! 194/365 project bokeh
By this time you must be wondering what this gorgeous couple looks like a little closer up. Here they are: Lance and Lana! (Don't their names said together just sound divine?)
A tea party and a good book ~ a perfect afternoon for my sweet 6 year old and her beloved Charlotte.
PTM beloved and twitterpated
Hi everyone! ... have been away from the computer sinse Sat., ( I think) days & nights are still turned all around ... Did this heart for my Hubby this weekend ... I still get twitterpated over him in the spring time every year! ... I'm going to have a really busy week so I hope that this one can double as my challenge 15 piece ... I'll try to sneak a couple more in, if I can get a break ... Hubby handed me two boxes full of papers & said ... Taxes need to get done! ... Suddenly I did'nt feel quite as twitterpated as before! ... Only kidding, could'nt ask for a more wonderful partner in life ... but I sure hate it when tax time rolls around! ... :)
Seeing the She-Ruler's Valentine message, TK-027 is totally and completely twitterpated.
(Taken using my brand new lightbox, yay!)
I truly love winter but this beautiful sunshine makes me long for spring more than I thought.

Week 5 already! I'm not especially proud of this shot technically, or the way I look in it, but I love the creative idea behind it! These two are little monkeys so it seemed fitting for me to join them!
I widened my frame and included the lovely female that had Albert so enthralled. She seems to be playing hard to get, just a little bit.

The view greeting visitors to the American Sign Museum. Something tells me there is no shame in my having gotten a little twitterpated and weak-kneed, because a few of you would do the same thing!
More tomorrow, I hope. Pictures from last week's jaunt over part of Route 66 are all loaded up and sorted through, but...um...not yet. Soon, though, I hope!
Point Pelee
Those words say it all. Point Pelee is one of the most amazing places to visit during migration. It's a smorgasbord of birding fun. Always walk away happy and at peace after leaving.
I think I take this exact same photo every time I go and I still love it every time. Never grows old.
