"Thick feathers for insulation from Arctic cold make Snowy Owls North America’s heaviest owl, typically weighing about 1.8 KG (4 pounds)—one pound heavier than a Great Horned Owl and twice the weight of a Great Gray Owl (North America’s tallest owl)."

Yes, we do reach for the bad snacks, but a good bit of natural health is the best! I started out with a composition of a raspberry, 2 blueberries a hazel nut and a grape, but gradually ate them till I was left with these.

I was going to shoot Pistachios but realised I’d eaten them all!

Thanks for your visit and comments I appreciate that very much.

Here you see twice the same origami modular by Isa Klein, called 'Bromelias', that I folded recently. On the left the flower is still closed and on the right it has openend ;-)

You need 30 easy to fold elements and then you have to glue them together. That is the only way to make this modular.

After an aborted trip up to Scafell due to the depth of snow ( my two dogs were jumping into snow holes twice their size!) up to our knees, the return trip was quite stunning. A clear blue sky and an air of calm. The snow capped peaks gave a beautiful backdrop on the return walk, a great consolation to the day.

I hope everyone is coping okay - I am starting to go loopy...

The Kori Bustard (Ardeotis kori) is a large bird native to Africa. It is a member of the bustard family, which all belong to the order Gruiformes and are restricted in distribution to the Old World. It is one of the four species (ranging from Africa to India to Australia) in the large-bodied Ardeotis genus. In fact, the male Kori Bustard may be the heaviest living animal capable of flight. This species, like most bustards, is a ground-dwelling bird and an opportunistic omnivore. Male Kori Bustards, which can be more than twice as heavy than the female, attempt to breed with as many females as possible and then take no part in the raising of the young. The nest is a shallow hallow into the earth, often disguised by nearby obstructive objects such as trees. The specific epithet kori is derived from the Tswana name for this bird - Kgori.

I took this flower twice, with 2 lenses. First photo taken by fujinon 55mm f2.2 was posted last year. This is the second by meyer-optik gorlitz domiplan 50mm f2.8. Which one do you like 😊

"Reflecting" on its feathery personality ;)

I've been sorting through some photos tonight and came across this and wondered why I've never posted it previously. In fact there's a whole folder and I don't think I've done any from it!

Some say the world will end in fire,

Some say in ice.

From what I’ve tasted of desire

I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate

To say that for destruction ice

Is also great

And would suffice.

flickr friends+me = twice as nice

Thank you for putting up with me flickr friends. I know I type dyslexic all the time without realizing it. I leave words out of my sentences completely. My friends tell me they have learned a new language by being my buddy on instant messages. Now I just noticed I have been handing out spanish invites to all of my friends for two days! I told you yesterday I am still silly. Well here you go!!! LOL

Have a wonderful day!!

Even in the winter Sarasota is beautiful, we boat about twice a week when we can and there is always something to picture while out on the water. Today even boats are colourful, this is a boat rental place we passed and I love the reflections in the water.

Castle twice besieged by Parliamentarian forces. The first siege, in 1643, was unsuccessful, but by 1645 Corfe was one of the last remaining royalist strongholds in southern England and fell to a siege ending in an assault. In March that year Corfe Castle was demolished on Parliament's orders. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corfe_Castle

Rainier Reflected? Little Tahoma Peak is the dark peak to the right of Mt. Rainier.

I shot this one around 11 PM as the full moon lit up the mountain. The photo looked very clear in my viewfinder. When I got home I needed to work the software to get the image to show up at all. Next time I will make sure I am shooting RAW when shooting night photos. Finding an easy way to focus in the dark is still difficult. Turning all the way to infinity does not work. Perhaps I need a wide angle lens with a single focal length?

It was a challenge to find the right spot in the dark. I admit to getting 'a little bit turned around' and could not find the stairs back to the car.

These twice-stabbed stink bugs are not only fun to find since they look quite colorful but they are also very easy to identify. Notice the two bright red "blood" spots at the back of their abdomen that looks like they were stabbed there. They do have scent glands for defense that release a disgusting odor if you disturb them. Marsh hedge nettle and common milkweed are a couple plants I find these small stink bugs on since they like to feed on those developing seeds.

Nothing twice

Nothing can ever happen twice.

In consequence, the sorry fact is2

that we arrive here improvised

and leave without the chance to practice.

Even if there is no one dumber,

if you're the planet's biggest dunce,

you can't repeat the class in summer:

this course is only offered once.

No day copies yesterday,

no two nights will teach what bliss is

in precisely the same way,

with precisely the same kisses.

One day, perhaps some idle tongue

mentions your name by accident:

I feel as if a rose were flung

into the room, all hue and scent.

The next day, though you're here with me,

I can't help looking at the clock:

A rose? A rose? What could that be?

Is it a flower or a rock?

Why do we treat the fleeting day

with so much needless fear and sorrow?

It's in its nature not to stay:

Today is always gone tomorrow.

With smiles and kisses, we prefer

to seek accord beneath our star,

although we're different (we concur)

just as two drops of water are.

Going once, going twice

Twice in the last few years, we've enjoyed watching from the yard a pileated pair raising their young. I think only one fledgling made it this year.
