Coming home this morning from work I saw this incredible blue sky! talk about turnaround of weather.
……Turn around for a sea view - a popular and quaint unspoilt fishing cove on The Lizard in Cornwall. Have a super week ahead, stay cosy & locked down to stay safe and to keep EVERYONE else safe too! I have struggled to get a decent shot of these lovely looking birds. This is the closest I have been to one as it popped up in front of me, but would it turnaround and it was off before I could move.

NBER-4 begins its return trip to Bellefonte after interchanging with NS in Tyrone, Pennsylvania at the west end of the Bald Eagle Branch. Leading the way is a chopped nose ex-Rock Island GP7R.

The final trip from Alliance's weekend turn at the Employee Appreciation Special arrives at Belmont. They didn't go quite as far as they did in the morning, so this was the last I saw of the Westbound movement. Upon arrival back at Alliance, they made a bee line for Denver.
East Lancs Railway, Rawtenstall Station
The Flying Scotsman on the turnaround at Rawtenstall Station. Here it has just traversed the runaround track and entering the station to reconnect to the carriages for the return journey to Bury Station. Waited patiently to capture it between the water tower and chimney in the background and was rewarded with a bit of light on the front nameplate and buffer.
I was sitting in the living room, minding my own business when I looked up to see this guy on the other side of the window. I grabbed my camera and went outside to confront him (I didn't have time to worry about camera settings).
He was disconcertingly bold. When I told him to vamoose, he would back off a few feet and then return. But then he heard some children out on the turnaround and that scared him away.

Festiniog Railway, Porthmadog, North Wales
Way, way back in March of last year we had a weekend break in Caernarfon so I could shoot the castle sunset and sunrise, which turned out a bit of a disaster, but you’ll have to hunt out the images for the back story. On the Sunday, rather than head straight back home we decided to drive down to Porthmadog and visit one of my other forgotten loves – steam trains.
In my late teens/early 20s I spent many a weekend down on the Festiniog railway working as a volunteer or “Deviationist” as we were known then rebuilding the line back to Blaenau Ffestiniog following the flooding of the line due to hydro power reservoir at Tanygrisiau.
It’s been decades since I last visited and the Welsh Highland Railway and Festiniog now meet at Porthmadog Station. It’s now possible to take a stream train all the way from Caernarfon to Blaenau Ffestiniog via Porthmadog... a trip now firmly on my bucket list. Not sure if Mrs R would be interested as the last trip on the Festiniog didn’t live up to the Orient Express experience she had envisaged.
