ALBEROBELLO - is a small town and comune of the Metropolitan City of Bari, Apulia and is famous for its unique trullo buildings. The trulli of Alberobello have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1996.
In the late 18th century – 19th century Trulli were upgraded, by adding wells for collecting rainwater or cellars, used for food storage, located always below the Trulli.
Traditional Apulian (Italy) dry stone hut with a conical roof. Trulli generally were constructed as temporary field shelters and storehouses or as permanent dwellings in the nineteenth century.
