The grass is the first level on the food chain and it is a primary consumer. The fungus would be considered a secondary or tertiary consumer based on how many levels it takes to decompose an organism.

I think the most influential species of my location is the grass. It is the most abundant species on the site and many organisms rely on the grass for different things. The deer eat it as food, as well as insects and rabbits, and other species use it for shade and protection, such as snakes and frogs and fox. If the grass were removed from the habitat the space would be very open, there would be limited food supplies for many animals, and some species might have to move somewhere else if they couldn't adapt to the new environment. If an invasive species was put on the site it would probably choke out a lot on things. It might become overgrown on all the plant species near the water and they might die, or the invasive species might choke out the water supply if it gets too out of hand. The pond would fill in and animals would have to go somewhere else to find water. Three species from earlier would be the deer, frogs and cattails. The deer are herbivores and are limited by the food supply and the predators in the area. The frogs are predators and are limited by their food supply as a group. The cattails are a primary producer and are limited by available space, light and water.

Question: How is it that so many frogs can live in the area? Don't they crowd each other out? Would the site be better overall for species if more predators to frogs were brought in?

My trophic interaction is a leaf worm eating dead leafs and other dead organic material.

At my location i think the most influecial species is the sugar maple tree becasue it is the most abundant as well as provides most of the food for the species in the area. This is becuase it provides leaves for the worms to eat as well as organic matter for other plants to grow in. Also the organic matter provides food for bugs to eat which in turn provides food for creatures that eat the bugs.

If you removed the sugar maple ther would be no tree cover as well as no dead organic mattter.

If you replaced the sugar maple with an invasive species you might see the take over of the forest by that species or you might see the take over of that species on the forest floor.

If you look at my first organism you will see it is there to eat the decaying organic material and to feed out competing species. My second organism is there to provide organic material as well as cover to some species. My last organism is organism 4 which is there because it is a disturbed area that is vulnerable to invasive species.
