Trichrome is the process of using black and white film, one image taken with a red filter, green filter and blue filter. Then some processing needed.
Digitally composed from 4 blac&white negative film scans in GIMP. Here is MY PROBLEM: could someone refer to me what are the optimal color assignment and blending modes in GIMP? I cannot really say at this point if I used "screen" or "additive light", for each layer and overall, and any way this made the upper right corner of the picture quite much blown out of proportion despite the negatives (and their scans) holding relatively good detail in that area. I was trying to play with curves in each layer, but while the situation improved, it did not reach my liking. I am very much GIMP naive, but I have also not used Photoshop extensively at any point - therefore, I am layer workflow naive. I guess that this is the beginning of a learning journey for me.

1st: 2x NISI natural night & Landscape C-PL filters (the only blue I had) - after this one, the tripod head shifted, so it was most difficult to align, which did not succeed completely
2nd: B+W Yellow & NISI PRO-C-PL filters
3rd: 580nm (light red) IR pass filter
4th: 720nm IR pass filter

Trichromatic photography is the process of taking three identical black and white photos (film), each taken with a different color filter (red, green, and blue), and then combining the three photos to create a color image. This is how it was done before color film arrived.

Trichrome photography involves taking three exposures of the same subject on black and white film. Each exposure is taken through a red, green or blue filter. Using a Zeiss Ikon Contaflex Super BC 35mm camera, I took three photos of the scene on black and white film (Kentmere Pan400) with a red, green or blue filter in front of the lens. The three images were deliberately misaligned in camera, assembled in Photoshop Elements.

After reading an article about trichromatic photography I realized that I had to try it. It's a technique of creating a color image from three black and white shots using green, red, and blue filters separately, then overlaying each in photoshop assigning each to the appropriate color channel.
Even though this subject wasn't the best choice since the water is always in motion I went for it using my long neglected Mamiya RZ67 and Fomapan 100.
