“…the event of the shattering encounter of an idea in Plato; the emergence of a purely eventful cogito, a crack in the great chain of being, in Descartes; and the Absolute itself – the totality that encompasses everything that exists – as an eventual self-deployment, as the result of its own activity.”

― Slavoj Žižek, Event

One from a misty morning a few weeks ago

Tonight June 19, 2015 and for a couple of nights after this one you won’t want to miss the great extravaganza in the western sky after sunset. The brightest, second-brightest and third-brightest celestial bodies of nighttime are the moon, and the planets Venus and Jupiter, respectively. On these nights, these three bright worlds lie close together in Earth’s evening twilight sky.

In polite company three tends to be a crowd. But apparently not here. This trifecta of Blue Oaks are intertwined like intimate lovers. The perfect triad standing the test of time and the elements.

with a bit of smoke to the northwest

Got this spot on my bucket list for way too long and I finally managed to ticking it off. Obviously no clouds were involved except that embarrassing stripy thing on the upper right corner (which I had a hard time deciding wether or not to clone it out). Anyway let me know if you enjoy this one! Wish you all a great day.

This religious sculpture was discovered at Bir Wereb, near Palmyra. Situated on a major caravan route, Palmyra was at the crossroads of Syria, Mesopotamia, and the desert crossings. In its pantheon, external gods mingled with native deities. It was in this context that the triad of Ba'alshamin, Aglibol, and Malakbel developed during the first half of the first century AD. These gods are represented here in Roman military dress, a distinctive feature of Palmyrene religious iconography.
