One of the projects I am working on these days is renovating our bedroom. We are painting it a new color but we also spent the day looking for new bedroom furniture. In our many store visits, I watched for trends in colors and designs. Most of the stores sold wall art as well. I noticed that most of the art leaned toward monochromatic images, subtle color tones or abstract art. So for Sliders Sunday I tried one of these trends with an image of tulips I took. Although I prefer the gorgeous colors that the real tulips have in our living room, I may consider a more monochromatic look for a wall hanging on our bedroom wall. When we have so many images of our own to choose from, it will be interesting to see what we ultimately decide to print and hang in our room. Happy Sliders Sunday!

Not sure what I like more in this photo... the delighted expressions of the passengers clearly admiring the trending photos on Flickr, or the expression of the guy on the right who feels as though he is missing out on the action!

An old shot of an abandoned chalet, - in the area where we have a chalet.
It was demolished shortly after I made this photo.
In my yard next to the drive I noticed this azalea on morning. I intended to come take a photo but put it off until the next day and it was already showing signs of the season. These beauties show up without warning and apparently leave the same way. Best to capture them when the time is right.
I used a macro lens and took two images with slightly different focus points and combined them in Photoshop in a focus stack to attempt to get as much as I could to display. Then I adjusted down the shadows to darken the leaves and give some depth and dimension to the flower.
Don't try to follow trends. Create them.

Little Ninja entered Kindergarten 2 years ago with a Mohawk. He was the first one in his school...now there are more than I can keep track of. This morning he asked for Liberty Spikes (by name). I guess he's ready to pioneer new ground. He's in the Gifted Program and I have always said as long as you bring home straight A's, you can look any way you want...
