in the company of a forest
the back of the garden
in a vase of sublime
weeds
in the most unexpected corner
of this city
in my sister
my friend
in my nemesis too
oh yes my wild self
is dancing
and you?
where do you find
the wild?
where are you
dancing
with this earth?

I took a photo of my smiling dog standing in a tree celebrating St. Patrick's Day in his green hat. As I was editing the photo in Photoshop I noticed that I had also captured a tree leprechaun spirit behind him looking rather annoyed at the disturbance. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Taken for the Macro Mondays theme for February 26, 2023, "Texture," this photo has been cropped to show a slightly less than 3" square section of an unfurling frond of this Hawaiaan fern. I think I can see where it got its name, because it resembles a face. It's what drew me to it, as well as the varied textures. In the rainforest section of the Enid A. Searching through Normanby Country Park, near Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, looking for fairies, with my beautiful daughter.
The way we see the world shapes the way we treat it.
If a mountain is a deity, not a pile of ore.. if a forest is a sacred grove, not timber; if other species are biological kin, not resources; or if the planet is our mother, not an opportunity - - then we will treat each other with greater respect. Thus is the challenge, to look at the world from a different perspective.

[The Tree Atop the Hill]
On a cloudy, windy day towards sunset as I was climbing up a hill at the nature park, I discovered this magnificent tree standing majestically atop the hill. It spread out so far I had to take three shots and stitch them together to create a panorama. The longevity and hardiness of this tree coupled with the hanging moss reminded me of a Lord of the Rings movie set, with a "tree spirit" as the "Lord of the Trees" towering over the trees further down the hill.
Captured in Sherwood Forest at the beginning of Autumn before all the colours had fully took hold of the trees.
Revisited a concept I have worked with before to generate an image for Me Again Monday - thinking this would fit with the wilderness theme. I am also entering it as 32 of 115 made of wood.
Walking to Punnawithi, the quickest route involved a small footpath not uncommon in Bangkok. A special tree here has a spirit -- so the locals tie ribbons around it.

Image created with Midjourney that was altered with the Topaz Gigapixel AI plug-in, then the Luminar Neo plug-in (accent AI effect as well sharpen, small detail, medium detail, large detail, highlight contrast, midtone contrast, shadow contrast, color noise, luminance noise, and exposure adjustments), then the Exposure X6 plug-in (light and airy adjustment), then the Luminar Neo plug-in (highlight adjustment), and then numerous edits with built-in Photoshop tools. In Greek mythology, a Hamadryad is a type of Dryad (tree spirit). Unlike other Dryads, Hamadryads are bound to a particular tree.
Close call, but she seemed to accept I was no threat and slowly turned to resume her watch over the river.
I was out and about in the forest yesterday with the feeling that something was watching me but I could not figure it out as all I could see was an old fig tree which I captured with my phone.
It must have just been the low mist on the forest floor that spooked me. HSS
