Crann Bethadh means "Tree of Life" in Irish. The Ancient Celts, including those of Ireland, believed that trees had several powers and were the source of all life. The symbol of the Tree of Life has thus remained part of Irish and Celtic symbolism, representing balance and harmony in all worlds, connecting heaven, earth, and the underworld. The branches represent growing knowledge and understanding, and the trunk represents strength and family.

With the weather forecast this week I went off to the nearby carton recycling point knowing it would take me past this viewpoint and be able to get a shot last Sunday for SSC . I used to go past here on my way to work and sometimes stopped for a shot here as things changed through the year .
The tree here looks a bit like the Tree of Life while it is without any leaves , the field is often used in rotations for sheep and the next time they will be here there will be so many new born lambs leaping and bleating about . This scene is just one part of a much bigger field but so often the sheep and their lambs congregate around the tree - probably because there are usually food stacks when the sheep are here . You can tell where the sheep gather by the patch on the grass .
With that in mind with the new lambs soon to arrive , how about a nice little tune called -- New Horizons !!

I've visited this spot many times, but on this morning the sun was dancing on the water and creating magical reflections on the trees. Because the shutter speed was 2.5 seconds, the longer exposure evened out the dancing light on the trees, creating a less splotchy but still beautiful illumination.

Strobist/technical info:
The scene is a 3-image focus stack composite. It was illuminatd by two Nikon SB900 speedlights CL/CR, fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄32 (CL) and 1⁄64 (CR) power through Neewer 24" soft boxes. A red LED flashlight was positioned from above to create the red highlights.
The SB900s were triggered by PocketWizard Plus Xs.
Lens: Pentacon Auto 50mm/f1.8 with a 12mm extension tube attached.

'The Tree of Life is an ode to Nature and its resilience. Despite a dark present, he is confident that man will follow a path that will lead to his regeneration', says Meiló Minotaur of her installation, Árvore da Vida.
“Muertos” is in Houston’s Second Ward or “El Segundo.” Much like the other two murals within walking distance and by the same artist, Angel Quesada, (also known as “ARTKUNGFU) the Muertos mural pays homage to the actual place in which it was created, in this instance a funeral home. The traditional arbol de vida (or tree of life) originally made with clay, is a well-known Mexican genre. This theme of “genesis” is found in rural pueblos throughout Mexico, especially in the Oaxacan region, In this mural, Quesada takes the Dia de los Muertos theme and gives it a twist. Example of the interesting street art in the 2nd Ward.
I am using my lensball for the first time here. I bought it two years ago but I never think to shooting with it. I thought of this idea with my backyard tree and gave it a shot. My maple tree still has lots of leaves left on it but that'll change soon. We woke up to some snow today! The seasons are changing and I am not a fan of the cold winter weather like I was as a kid...lol
The winds of spring begin to sing,

Of seasons passed and roots well grown.
The Tree of Life in Olympic National Park. This iconic spruce tree with its completely exposed roots has stood strong at the edge of the bluff through the years, somehow surviving gravity, coastal storms and erosion. Truly a miracle, but you can see it's been sinking slowly--there used to be enough space to stand underneath the roots, but it's now just inches from touching the ground. Apparently the last King tides pushed the driftwood logs in underneath and they're providing support to the tree. A symbol of resilience and overcoming life's challenges, it's a spiritual spot for many--on the day we were there, we met a lady with a very touching story--she had lost her husband just last year and after many months of grieving, was finally able to make the trip for healing and closure...I can definitely relate. I for one will be very sad if the tree should ever fall completely...
...this closed locket on a charm bracelet hides a secret message; a birthday present from my family for one of my 'big' birthdays (but I won't say which!).

Can't let our government cut all the trees for economic reasons any longer.
So I'm currently growing pine trees from the seeds of pine cones.
After one week I already have a bunch of them growing.

I'll feed and grow them until they are stable in a small pot and we'll connect to hand over the tree. Then you can share some photos by yourself caring for it.

Today I made a fragrant sachet from some of our dried lavender plants and recently purchased trims, applied to a recycled white scarf and a patch of luscious wool from a vacation in Maine.
Will be sending this off to my oldest living childhood friend in Pennsylvania with birthday wishes and appreciation for our 68 years of staying in touch!

I do know that my sister's dearest friend, who passed away only last week, was guiding me through the garden yesterday with serendipitous inspirations! As I placed a gorgeous pink hydrangea next to our flamingo, I had NO idea Janet was crazy about such whimsical garden sculptures! My sister was in disbelief when I forwarded a pic to her, along with an amazing poem on Flamingo Spirit!
The Tree of Life, located at the center of Disney's Animal Kingdom, honors animals and the place they all share in the great Circle of Life. At 145 feet tall, the massive tree towers over the land. Marvel at its gnarled roots and outstretched branches, then step closer to see the shapes of over 300 animals carved into the tree. It’s an epic visual symbol of the diversity, beauty and interconnected nature of Earth’s creatures.

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D5200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.
