Shore treasure hunting conjures up glamour, excitement and riches ripe for the discovery. The reality, however, is often different: The small industry of real-life hunters live a dream that comes with its own share of heartache and disappointment
I just want to thank you all for your outpouring of support on my last post. It means so much to me to know that you are all there for me and that you care.

I started my collection of LP’s in 1965 and throughout all these years I have had several devices to reproduce my collection, the best way to enjoy my musical treasures is to have a needle and cartridge in good condition taking care of its cleanliness.

Lake Superior is filled with many hidden gems, and to me Pictured Rocks has to be the crown jewel! The endless vistas, dramatic cliffs, awe inspiring coves, turquoise waters, and roaring waterfalls make this place truly one of a kind. It was worth the sacrifice of sleep, hours of driving, over a thousand miles of driving, and 8 miles of hiking through the mosquito infested woods. At the end of this, I can say we were greatly rewarded with a view that I don't think I could ever forget, but also an even more important lesson. This was a hike that I was very on the fence about doing when I was planning the trip. I have not done a long hike like this with my health condition in over 4 years. I wasn't sure how it would go. Not knowing what else to do, my wife and I prayed and asked for the Lord's wisdom and guidance. He answered and gave us a clear response to go. Two lessons that God taught us in this hike: perseverance and thankfulness in all circumstances. It was a growing experience for us and a valuable one. It is so easy for us to want to chose the easy route instead of persevering through the trial for a greater reward. The treasure is Christ and the reward is eternal life in Him. Trials are promised, perseverance is required, but His help is constant to guide us safely home! There were lessons of eternal value that we got to learn during this trip and they were so important for us in the season that we have been in. May my heart be humbled as it is so often filled with pride. May my heart give Jesus all the glory He is due and not hold any of it back for myself. For Jesus You alone are worth it all!
A gift from my mum many years ago, after her long awaited trip to Russia 💙
It reminds me of the joy she felt at a dream come true and has given my daughter and I a lot of pleasure too 😊

In remembrance of the Unknown Soldier
Dan Barton has created and installed 101 6ft tall Armistice day Soldier Silhouettes to Commemorate the end of WW1 and 75 poppy wreathes to commemorate the end of WW2 at The Aston Rowant Nature Reserve. The Natural England Reserve can be found on the hillside at Stokenchurch, Oxfordshire above the M40 Motorway.
Dan hopes to raise funds for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and has set up a Just Giving Page.
Dan hopes this installation will provoke thought as people drive along the M40 motorway to remind us to enjoy the freedom we have and to teach our younger generations to treasure and cherish their freedom and to live well. Dan believes that all that we have in this moment is possible because of those that have come before us.

Macro Mondays 'treasured' theme.
Well worn and damaged but treasured nonetheless, this pewter ring was given to me by my Dad when I was about twelve, more than fifty years ago. He bought it on one of his many business trips to Scandinavia and I think he got it in Norway. I haven't worn it for many years and can't even get it on my little finger now but I wouldn't part with it.
Macro Mondays .On my 21st birthday the watch given to me from my Mum and Dad. 54 Years later still in fine working order.
……We’ve a bag of pre-decimal coins of various denominations that belonged to my father - quite why he kept them isn’t known, perhaps he thought they’d be worth something in the future?! I do remember him always checking the dates and saving specific ones. The Chest isn’t old but fitted the ‘Treasured’ theme perfectly I thought - you may be interested to know that in total here was just £3, 16 shillings and 6 pence so basically not a Treasure trove but it’s still ‘Treasured’ by me. HMM …… Alan:-) btw a Shilling is 23.6mm in diameter so less than 1 inch - it became a 5p piece post decimalisation………

It's about time I posted photos of my big brother ... he is the reason I took up photography now more than 50 years ago. Today would have been his 73rd birthday but he left us at age 46. I won't bother with bemoaning and detailing how profound our loss was ... he wouldn't condone it if he were here.
We photographed together when time and circumstance allowed and I would often turn my camera to him as my subject. Two examples of my informal portraiture of him are in this diptych. Although I had no way of knowing it at the time, all of these extemporaneous portraits would become a treasure to me after his death. I return to them often to provoke good memories that deserve provocation for their goodness and if only to remind me of our times together and to serve as the 'voice in my ear' when I am editing my own work. I often look at my own images when deciding if they are 'keepers' by asking myself "what would my brother have said about them?" It keeps me honest in some mysterious and wondrous way ... thank you big brother and happy birthday. "Anon, or sooner!"

My eldest daughter's first tiny little leather booties. I have lost so many of my belongings over a number of international moves but a few things are still with me to treasure. One of those are these booties. So cute and still in very good condition. For Macro Mondays the theme is 'treasured'. Happy Macro Mondays/ HMM
