You may have to zoom in, but this shot nicely shows how the thread goes transparent when varnished to reveal the hardware underneath.

Such a sucker for back lit leaves. I love the textures and shapes.

As usual the pic doesn't show the details right..these beads are nearly see through..

Top: cast acrylic cube

Bottom: cut extruded tube that's been torched. This technique is fairly common. Unfortunately, the properties of extruded acrylic does not lend itself to torching as well as cast acrylic. In case you were wondering...

 

I went through this phase of trying to make transparent cubes for a while. It was fun while it lasted.
