oneliner vase transparencies on different backgrounds lesson 3. Actually I did calla lily silk screen on fabric but this actual piece was for Diane Culhane's class. I used my designs for a lesson of hers. It looked like my fabric so much I made a mistake.

I was the recipient of a centerpiece from a wedding attended last weekend. Yesterday the poor gerbers had wilted beyond recognition but before they met their fateful demise, I snapped a few photos inspired by (the uber talented) sbittner. October 2016 CreativeMornings/Raleigh event (global theme: Transparency) with guest speaker Brett Smith.

 

Brett Smith is the co-founder and President of Counter Culture Coffee of Durham, North Carolina. Founded in 1995, Counter Culture Coffee is a different kind of coffee company. Dedicated to finding and bringing to market the most exciting, authentic, and delicious coffees in the world, Counter Culture Coffee approaches their work with a passion for the ideal of coffee perfection, a dedication to real sustainability, and a commitment to cutting-edge education throughout the coffee chain.

 

Brett also serves as a director for SouthWings; a non-profit promoting environmental conservation through aviation and as a director and chairman of the board for World Coffee Research; a non-profit working to increase the global supply and quality of Arabica coffee.

 

Brett has a bachelor’s of arts in economics from the University of Virginia and a master’s of business administration from the University of North Carolina. He is a regular guest speaker for business students at both University of North Carolina and Duke University and was the recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Alumni in Sustainability Award from the Center for Sustainable Enterprise at the University of North Carolina.

 

Brett lives in Chapel Hill with his three teenage children.
