From sea ship to river vessel

Not too long before becoming young and restless, the fledgling Barn Swallow did receive an energy transfusion sufficient to sustain it during its solo flight along Rettilon Road on Bolivar Peninsula.

In this experiment, which some might call a spiritual exercise, the attempt is made at transferring bioenergy from an onion via an accumulator and, then, an accelerator, to a person. Evidence of transfer must not be 'anecdotal' but repeatable and statistically corroborated. This is the reason why I should be careful when talking about 'evidence'. There is a second caveat of a more ethical nature. In this experiment, the direction of energy transfer is from onion to man. This is purely for scientific reasons. The aim of the whole exercise, once formally established, is to transfer life energy from one person to another (transfer of merit, spiritually speaking). Exercises of this kind have been done before. The two ones I would like to mention specifically, are Joseph Beuys' action "Manresa" and Wilhelm Reich's "Orgone Accumulator".

Not quite as pretty as K-Mads throwbacks, but for two decades past this is damn good. A lot of changes in this Twin Cities staple. The containers have become quite bland, the St. Anthony Parkway bridge has been replaced, the elevator off of California St is brightly painted, although some tree growth is starting to diminish its presence.

All in all, still a very nice overview of the T Yard. And what a leader, one of the very few non-dynamic SD40-2's left in Class 1 service.

This installation isn't far from where I live.

After shooting this Twin Cities and Western Railroad transfer departing CPKC's St. Paul yard as seen here: flic.kr/p/2oGDatk we tried to chase them, but they absolutely FLEW across town and we only barely made it in time to grab one more shot of them. They are crossing the Mississippi River at about MP 10.6 BNSF's ex Great Northern Wayzata Sub mainline in this view looking down off the North 1st Street overpass in downtown Minneapolis as they make their way toward Cedar Lake Junction ultimately headed back to Hopkins on home rails of their former Milwaukee Road mainline. The track diverging in the foreground leads to the Target Field Station platforms used by Northstar commuter trains.

The matching quartet of rebuilt GP38-2s (all rebuilt from former NS high hood straight GP38s of NW or SOU provenance) is marred only by unrepainted TCWR 3516 still in its leaser scheme. This is a unique rebuilt GP20C that was originally built as a GP20 in

Feb. 1961 as CBQ 901 and probably passed this way in a past life dressed in Cascade Green!

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is a large park with an eminent garden in Shinjuku and Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. It was originally a residence of the Naitō family in the Edo period. Afterwards, it became a garden under the management of the Imperial Household Agency of Japan. It is now a park under the jurisdiction of the national Ministry of the Environment.

The shogun bequeathed this land to Lord Naitō (daimyo) of Tsuruga in the Edo period who completed a garden here in 1772. After the Meiji Restoration the house and its grounds were converted into an experimental agricultural centre. It then because a botanical garden before becoming an imperial garden in 1879. The current configuration of the garden was completed in 1906. Most of the garden was destroyed by air raids in 1945, during the later stages of World War II. The garden was rebuilt after the war.

The jurisdiction over the Imperial Palace Outer Garden and the Kyoto imperial garden was transferred to the Ministry of Health and Welfare (now part of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare) in 1947.

On May 21, 1949 the garden became open to the public as "National Park Shinjuku Imperial Gardens". It came under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Environment in January 2001 with the official name "Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden".

With a quartet of first generation EMDs for power, a combination of Rio Grande trains 42 and 48 pull east through North Salt Lake on D&RGW Subdivision 7. In eight additional miles, train 42/48 will arrived at Roper Yard in South Salt Lake.

Veterans B75 and 44206 are seen leading Waratah set A34 earlier in the day, heading through Thornleigh here as train 4178. This EMU is being transferred from Cardiff workshops to Auburn Maintenance Centre, and the diesel haulage is due to the lack of electrified roads at Cardiff and qualified crew to make the journey.

EMD B75 comes in at a whopping 71 years of service, with Alco 44206 not far behind with 53 years under it's belt.

Thanks to the recent rain and warm temperatures there was a bit more growth in the foreground here than I was hoping for.

The daily transfer from the Terminal Railroad Association's Madison Yard to the Alton and Southern Gateway Yard makes its appearance. This move requires the train to pull completely past the yard and then reverse in.
