Thirty-three years later, the Czechoslovakians developed yet another iconic artefact: the Škoda 65E direct-current locomotives. Fast forward to today, and we arrive at a great gesture from the Czech- and Slovak railways towards train nerds: the locos nicknamed „banán" make their last mainline appearances on select lines, including the EC 241/240 pair connecting Prague with Košice.
With ETCS rolling out on nearly all railway corridors throughout Czechia from January, 2025, the few units still in service are being withdrawn. In case you're looking for an early Christmas present, ČD is offering locomotives 150.203 and 225 for sale by the way!

And now for those few, who are still reading. As the lack of uploads shows, I'm not really hanging around on Flickr anymore, apart from occasionally throwing out faves to fellow colleagues. In fact, I'm considering terminating my Pro membership this year, as I'm not satisfied with the price/value ratio offered by the service. And even if that wasn't bothering me, I can't find any more free time to keep posting regularly here and writing these image descriptions (often turning into rants) next to running a bigger operation with my co-author friends.

As the sun rises over the Coronado Subdivision, a now-familiar sight—the third BC Rail leader in under two weeks—guides a loaded sulfur train toward Edmonton. On my way to the tracks, completely oblivious to what was coming, I jokingly said, “Let’s go catch this BC Rail.” I truly had no clue one was coming, but I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw rock lights shining through the trees.

Ze zijn regelmatig ook te vinden op de s61.

Admittedly, it's a nice curve; perfect for "train geeks", train nerds", "train nuts" and so forth to take pictures. Great Lakes Central OSTN rolls north at Geeck road a few miles south of Owosso.
While at first it might be mistaken for a regular Dash9, 4647 still has some classic BC Rail character shining through the new paint. After seeing it trail up the line, I figured it would make for a fun chase back. When the day came, I intercepted them just north of Newbrook and chased them all the way down to Gibbons, where I cut ‘em loose and headed home! Pictured here, 556 rounds the corner at Kerensky after just entering the Coronado Subdivision with a new crew.
