Teens throughout Madison had the opportunity to participate in hands-on media workshops including video game design, stop motion animation, and book trailers. Programs were conducted in libraries, schools, detention centers and other partner organizations throughout 2014.

Typical sheepherder trailer in central California.
Workers are recruited from Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Mexico and other countries to work as sheepherders in the United States. Federal and most state labor law exclude the herders from minimum wage and overtime pay. They are required to be at the work site, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. The workers earn between $650-$750 per month in most states and $1,400 per month in California. That is an effective hourly wage of about 90 cents per hour to $1.94 per hour in California. Federal minimum wage is currently $6.55. California minimum wage is $8.00 per hour. The employers "justify" the sub-minimum wages by comparing the rates to what the workers could earn in their home countries.
