An unusual residue of a previous snowstorm resulted in a snowy edge to "mark the trail" in Nelson Park (Sterling Heights, Michigan).
The most unusual aspect was not the nature trail markings, but the sun and blue sky, something that was not seen around here for quite awhile.
Not a brand new trail, but I was the first one to take it that day as evidenced by the unperturbed snow here
Near Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
Road plows are out early to insure the roads for the traveling public and local railfans are cleared and safe to travel. Here we find a Dodge County MACK truck equipped with a plow, clearing Walton Road outside of Richwood. Be sure to give these workers plenty of room to do their work and keep us all moving along safely.

Part of a lunch time walk...
I like grafiti. I don't mind tags if they are done well. This one was nice and simple and seemed to lead somewhere, as they are two different sections of a fence. Once I got to the parking lot, sadly there was nothing...guess Snark left. :(
The beloved baby returns to fix the world's food shortages, one ear of corn at a time.
There was a time when I knew exactly what model John Deere this was (while I was copying it), but that time is long gone. Anyway, it was inspired by and built for my Grandfather, who grew up on a farm and still owns one today!

Most of you will know by now, how much I love playing with light.
Well, these was one of these 'sessions', when imagination and creativity joined in the studio.
These lights, plastic tubes filled with little lights, had 'entertained' us the whole Summer in the garden.
It seemed silly to leave them out now, so, in they came!
Then, something happened, I saw them and thought, now wait a minute, what if, euhhh, yes, do this, try that?
I was thrilled now, and started to try ALL sorts...
Here I'm using 2 tubes, I tried different techniques with the studio-lights. Love a challenge, and it was.
To freeze me = washed out the lights too much.
So, the old joke was always that photographers do it in the dark! Here's PROOF!IN AUTUMN DARKNESS... A ROSE
These are the best, hah, sigh, what a great time I had and glad with the results.

Skylar is always ready to lead the way and wishes Abby didn't need to smell so many things. You never know what exciting thing awaits around the next bend in the trail. Today's excitement was a big wild turkey gobbler who walked out of some underbrush just in front of us and immediately took flight when he saw the dogs.
The quest to roll back Hitler's authority on the European continent was led by this Douglas C-47 "Skytrain" in the early morning hours of June 6, 1944.
Carrying advanced elements of the 101st and 82nd Airborne divisions, nearly 1,000 Skytrains followed "That's All Brother" as the Allied liberation of Europe kicked off.
This particular C-47 was traced to a C-47/DC-3 boneyard at Basler Turbo Conversions (and earmarked for conversion to a BT-67) in Oshkosh, Wisc. where she was then rescued and restored by the Commemorative Air Force.
In terms of living history, it doesn't get much sweeter than this...
