IN PUNTA DI PIEDI...

Sometimes, going for photographs, one discovers landscapes that cannot be disturbed, wrapped -as they are- in absolute silence and peace. So, you have to tiptoe in, say thank you, and then go back to the car. What else?

...

"We should never go back to our past, nor try to repeat today that moment of joy that we were already lucky to have had yesterday.

I live now, here, with the feeling that the universe is extraordinary, that nothing happens to us by chance and that life is a continuous discovery. And I'm particularly lucky because, now more than ever, every day is really another carousel ride. "

( grazie Coach.....)

To arrive when others leave this place ..... the pleasure of getting lost in the voice of the sea ..... and come back happy as children ... .....

It was nice to return to this lake island, called Montisola, one of the largest in Europe, after five years. A beautiful place to visit in all seasons.

You can go trekking around the island (km 9) or climb to the top of the island's mountain on which stands an ancient church rich in art and with an endless panorama.

Here I left the car and then walk down to catch the ferry to the island.

-------------------------------------------

Of all the Tuscan cities, Livorno is usually considered the most modern, although in its territory there are several historical, artistic and architectural testimonies that survived the massive bombings of the Second World War and subsequent reconstruction. It is famous for giving birth to prestigious personalities and great artists (Amedeo Modigliani, Pietro Mascagni, Giovanni Fattori, Piero Ciampi and many others).

The ditches of Livorno is a moat (not to be confused with a canal) which originally followed the perimeter of the fortified city and which, following the demolition of the ramparts, definitively lost its defensive function. The system of the ditches and canals of Livorno, although subject to numerous changes over the centuries, maintains much of its charm unchanged, so much so that, since 2002, its inclusion in the list of World Heritage Sites has been advocated .

In addition, tradition has it that Amedeo Modigliani, discouraged in 1909, misunderstood and derided by the city and his artist friends, decided to throw some of his sculptures in the Fosso Reale before returning to Paris, the city where he spent the rest of his days and where today he is buried in the Père-Lachaise cemetery.

In the stretch between the Market of provisions and the church of the Dutch in the early eighties, the works for their research were started, with the discovery of three heads, initially attributed to the master, but which then turned out to be resounding fakes.

Dark clouds rise over our history...it seems that time wants to go back...but we must have hard foundations and firm belief...

Age....

Just past Sunday: as I'm about to leave, a green van pulls up in the parking lot, and monks and ordinary people get out. You know, those organized trips that are supposed to promote spiritual retreats or moments of welcome, dedicated to silence and reflection. The friar driver (he must have been my son's age) heads toward the wheat field and stops, almost motionless. I photograph him from behind. He turns, sees me, and asks, "Isn't everything beautiful here?" I reply that—for me—it's something I've seen dozens of times before, but each time the sensation is overwhelming. Yes, this is an enchanted place, whether you're a believer or not. He introduces himself: "I'm Brother Evaristo, a Capuchin friar from Montorsaio. Nice to meet you! I take my sheep around monasteries and cathedrals; this is a must-see."

He's a pleasant guy: I haven't converted to Christianity, but I've met a nice, lively man. I light a cigar, head to the car, stop, and look at him; he's still there, lost in his thoughts and the corn. I wave goodbye, then...it's time to go back.

From afar, his gentle voice resounds: "Don't smoke too much, it's bad for you!"...

Good luck, Brother Evaristo!

...

Buona fortuna, Fratello Evaristo!

Italia, Emilia-Romagna, Comacchio, Primavera 2023

Comacchio is a town of Emilia Romagna, Italy, in the province of Ferrara. It was founded about two thousand years ago; across its history it was first governed by the Exarchate of Ravenna, then by the Duchy of Ferrara, and eventually returned to be part of the territories of the Papal States. For its landscape and its history, it is considered one of the major centres of the Po delta. Comacchio rises in the middle of a lagoon of the same name and was originally built by joining 13 small islands formed at the mouth of the Po River with the sea. Before suffering the inexorable silting due to the proximity of the mouth of the Po River, over the centuries it was an important naval port in the Adriatic Sea and one of the main ports for trade in North Italy. Of its glorious past, the city nowadays preserves architectures and buildings of great value, beyond the characteristic canals that have worth it the nickname of “little Venice”.

For the theme of the day I chose the colour yellow from group A, and paper from group B: thinking of the boyish years of many years ago, I remembered that as a child we had fun making paper boats ... and therefore I was wondering if we had fun then folding paper to make little boats, why could not enjoy as adults in the same way? Here, this is my yellow folded paper floating boat. HMM

Mimes, clowns, storytellers, musicians and waders the world of street artists is varied and colorful. He is cheerful and sad at the same time. Hard training, endless tests and experiments to bring a smile, a laugh or a tear to the streets.

Street entertainment, as well as street art in general, is the bearer of life, beauty and color. It unites the masses, makes them excited, can open dialogues and improve the quality of life of the beholder.

Usually they have a mask and a costume, they are there on the street motionless for hours without moving ... A street artist is an artist who performs by requesting an offer. They show juggling, music, clowns, mime, circus art, storytellers, fire eaters and waders ...

But the time has come to go home and remove that mocking face in order to be able to recognize oneself

in the split reflection of the mirror, street clown dressed in sad joviality to conceal the skin of a knot in his throat ...

congedandoti fino all'indomani...

e struccare quel beffardo viso

sfaccettati in identità mascheranti realtà.

A number to gather smiles and applause

another ... to fill the unstitched pocket of a few pennies,

raise your hat and bow to your audience

taking your leave until the next day ...

And the time has come to go home ...

and remove that mocking face

to be able to recognize himself

in the split reflection of the mirror,

street clown dressed in sad joviality

to hide the lump of a lump in the throat ...

Paint your path as a perfect traveler

cheering up those you meet by chance

and the kids want to kiss your cheeks

albeit stuck with a greasepaint too often ...

A caress for everyone, a tight grimace between the lips ...

clenched like a clenched fist,

inside you a suit recites on the proscenium of truth.

Acrobat is life on the swing of thoughts

swinging on a cloud,

beyond an unknown horizon

we reveal ourselves without ever knowing who we are ...

multifaceted in identity masking reality.

In photography, the most beautiful opportunity sometimes comes at the end of the day, when you thought you were going home without something special.

Here the last 10 minutes of sunshine warmed meadows and woods, and the ground began to show its breath.

Dopo tre mesi di "esilio" è tempo di tornare / After three months' "exile" is time to return

Regno Unito, Northumberland, Craster, Estate 2014

High upon the cliffs along the North Sea, reside the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle. It was once the largest castle in Northumberland, but today only fragments of it remain as the result of many wars. The castle was built in 1313 by Thomas Plantagenet who was later executed for treason by his cousin King Edward II. The executioner needed 11 strokes to decapitate Thomas and for that reason the Earl’s ghost has been spotted around the castle carrying his mangled head, with a facial expression still bearing the pain and horror he suffered. The castle has associated with the legend of Sir Guy. Sir Guy was a knight who arrived at Dunstanburgh Castle, where he was met by a wizard and led inside. There he came across a noble lady imprisoned inside a crystal tomb and guarded by a sleeping army. The wizard offered Guy a choice of either a sword or a hunting horn to help free the lady; he incorrectly chose the horn, which woke the knights. Sir Guy found himself outside the castle, and spent the rest of his life attempting to find a way back inside.

The City of London is a district of Greater London. The City constituted most of London from its settlement by the Romans in the 1st century AD to the Middle Ages, but the conurbation has since grown far beyond its borders. It is now only a tiny part of the metropolis, though it remains a notable part of central London. This is the view from Greenwich Park.

When my brother and I were kids, on Sunday morning, we wake up in the house listening to the beloved music from my father ... I can not explain why this photo made me think of this and in particular to "Smoke gets in your eyes" (The platters) ... perhaps because of the smoke from a ship that dirtied the Antigua sunset ...

I specify that I have never used gimmicks to increase the number of views.

Also, I don't change from hour to hour the loading time of my photos to get more visits to the detriment of other flickers.

Poi potrebbero tornare a casa sani e salvi,

e quando i genitori chiederebbero loro

“Dove eravate?” loro risponderebbero

“Stavamo giocando tra le nuvole”

HRVATSKI 🇭🇷

"Sentinel at Sea"

Perched on an old buoy, this gull keeps a watchful eye on both the sea and the shore. In everyday coastal life in Croatia, gulls are ever-present – symbols of freedom, resilience, and cleverness.

They're not just birds we encounter by the sea – gulls are also natural weather forecasters, often the first to signal a storm with their unusual flight patterns or loud cries.

In some Dalmatian tales, the gull represents a sailor longing to return home, while in urban legends, it’s also known as a "charming flirt" – inspired by the local phrase "pravi galeb" (a true gull) for a man fond of seduction.

Whether in the sky or on a buoy – the gull is always there, alert, free, and true to itself.

"Wächter der See"

Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.

Now I want to spend my winter waiting, like flowers.

Disappear, close myself off, dig deep inside, remember, care for, understand, return to seed, become a bud.

Then I will bloom again.

Adesso voglio passare il mio inverno in attesa, come i fiori.

Sparire, chiudermi, scavarmi dentro, ricordarmi, accudirmi, capirmi, tornare seme, farmi bocciolo.

Poi rifiorirò.
