The Red-Legged Honeycreeper in the Lowlands of Costa Rica. I especially like this image with him excited and the feathers in the head standing up.

Nothing like wading out through the waves in the dark, getting soaked, carefully treading through the waves to reach the jetty rocks slippery with algae. We went yesterday and I didn't care for the pictures although the fun was topnotch. This morning, despite the forecast, the sunrise was a pretty one. Thanks to Greg and Ash for including me in. None of us, or our equipment, came out worse for wear and it was worth an early wakeup. (Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse)

Three Cinnamon Teal drakes in tight formation accompany a lone female looking for a good landing spot. They weren't really close so I used ON1 Resize to upscale this image - somewhat. There is always a fine line between arriving at a pleasing composition and maintaining topnotch quality.

One more shot still to come from this location, but I have a few more Alberta photos to share. Stay tuned!

From Bill Davenport: "Like a lot of the exotic foreign art we like best, it's a mirror of ourselves: "Jurassic Age" by Chinese artist Sui Jianguo summarizes the current craze for Chinese art with such an unexpectedly astute awareness of American perceptions of China and Chinese art, it makes me wonder if the artist was educated here, or lived here, or has simply hired a topnotch US market research team. That box isn't just a cage; it's a shipping crate- plates of steel attached to the bronze dinosaur's feet are to facilitate mounting the piece in a sculpture garden. It's chin and tail rest on padded foam inserts. It's a portrait of a piece of art fresh off the boat. It's a satirical portrait of the cheap, garish toys that define Americans perception of Chinese imports. Silly but menacing, it evokes and ridicules our xenophobic fears: if it gets loose, this dinosaur is going to take over the museum. And of course, being from China, it's hastily sprayed a bright Communist red."

I took these photos when we went to Forster for the weekend. We went to Wingham and in the local park there is a huge log on display. This little topknot pigeon was sitting there for quite a while.

Good morning my dear friends and followers!

This is the fifth and last photo from my latest series I am going to post here. It´s about time to get my lazy ass out there to discover nature´s treasuries and come back with some fresh images.

In a weak moment I have bought 2 new lenses and I´m really curious if that Sigma Art glass will meet my high expectations. Time will tell. All I can say for now is that the build quality is absolutely topnotch and both lenses are really sharp wide open. Canon, you should take that page from Sigma´s book. ;-)

Have a marvellous week!

I am so overwhelmed that I hardly know where to start.

We have just completed a dream vacation in the UK, but not by our own planning. I merely got us there. The best came as a result of Flickr friends, like Rich, who put us up for 5 days. (He might say, "put up with us." *grin*)

Rich and Gill were the perfect hosts, providing everything from topnotch sightseeing, to the most wonderfully comfortable bed. Gill is an outstanding cook, and Rich is an outstanding tour guide. (Okay, Rich, I'll say it -- you are a pretty darn good photographer, too. *grin*)

We went everywhere including West Dean College Gardens where I shot these glorious grape-colored tulips.

And tea -- I grew up in a very British household where tea, at least 5 times a day, was commonplace. I had forgotten that, but Rich and Gill reminded me. And it was such a pleasant reminder.

It got to the point where a simple thank you sounded so limp and insipid -- hardly up to the quality of the adventures we were experiencing because of Rich and Gill's kindness.

So, this silent rich and regal tulip must express our gratitude. For there are no words.

For Rich and Gill.

Here is Rich's photostream. www.flickr.com/photos/28189986@N07/

Blessings always,

Sheree and David

(Yes, there will always be a bed for you at our house. Just say the word.

And that holds true for all our Flickr friends.

BTW, if you travel and you don't hook up with Flickr friends, you will miss out on some of the most wonderful people on the planet.

I can guarantee that.)

this is my newest box set, very badass, must have if mega blok or halo enthusiest X) I got two, (so I could talk myself into opening one, maybe, obviously I did) :)) The figures span from the beginning of Halo to now from 2001 to 2011, and everything is amazing, down to the smallest details on the guns. peace

There's a story, here, Dr, Seuss. As I see it, the worship pastors at out church have purchased, and installed some new lights on stage, as backlight, ambience enhancers. (My words. lol) We have a large group of excellent musicians, and vocalists, some professional, who are on stage weekly. We also have a topnotch technical team, with new digital sound equipment, so, Sunday mornings are very well done. The lights are some kind of computer controlled lights, the colour of which can be changed anytime from the back of the auditorium. For some reason, they have left them on for a couple days at a time, set to different colours. As I was passing by, I took a few shots with my iPhone7. There was a green day, too, but the effect was weak.

The Gretna starling display

The birds congregate at sunset, first in small groups and then in larger clusters, to form a mass of over one million birds creating elaborate shapes and patterns in the sky. Raptors such as sparrowhawks and peregrine falcons make an appearance to try and pick off a bird for supper. After an aerobatic display lasting for about 20 minutes, the starlings move towards a conifer plantation where they roost for the night.

It is a spectacle that occurs only during the winter and, until earlier this year, scientists were puzzled as to how exactly the birds were able to fly with such simultaneous precision.

They have since discovered that each bird tracks seven others, irrespective of their distance, which is how they stick together.British starling numbers are thought to have halved to four million in recent years, due in part to a declining insect population. But their gatherings – or murmurations – are boosted in the autumn by tens of millions escaping chillier Russia and Scandinavia, making this the best time of year to see them.

I love how roses occasionally present completely different colours on the same stem .... guess the extraordinary blossom represents one of the parent plants

Hybridized by Tom Carruth and introduced in 2006, this lovely Floribunda rose was chosen by Julia Child herself for its rich butter-gold color and delicious anise scent. It performs excellently in all climates. It is very disease resistant and repeat-blooms until the first frost. The blooms open in lavish abundance on a bush that's a modest 3' tall and wide, with a full and rounded form. It puts on a remarkable performance in a sunny bed or border.

Strong stormy weather and difficult lighting conditions made capturing any images at Porthcawl Lighthouse on Sunday a real challenge. 80+ mph winds, sea spray, rogue waves and a topnotch breakfast at the Pier Point Cafe made the 3am start all worthwhile

Petey is a topnotch head tilter.

(you can see in this photo that Petey's ears were damaged somehow in his past. His left ear has a gouge out of it near the tip, and the entire tip of his right ear is missing. I assume it was caused by either biting flies, or a biting dog)

Used the golden reflections from a stream as a template for the sky.

Christmas is near and the last days before it are filled with frenzied action: everything must be ready for the great day, everything must work properly.

On the 23rd day of Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar R2-D2 himself is testing this year’s official sleigh, codenamed “Sleigh One”.

It’s the sleigh that will carry the 2016 Santa figure through Christmas’ most important journey and its performances must be topnotch.

When failure is not an option there is one only you can count on.

The Galaxy’s greatest hero: R2-D2.

Nothing can elude his diagnostics and the sleigh will carry us deep inside the magic of Christmas.
