Charlie was fascinated by the net itself, by the contents of the tool bag and by all the activity going on. :)
I will post some (or even many) more captures of Charlie Brown in the next days as I don't have the opportunity to take photos of him very often. It is likely that he will stay with us for 10 days in August, though, as my niece and her boyfriend will go on holidays.

Many thanks for all the support! I really appreciate it! 😄
“Yes. Cut off by the tide and eaten alive by the local insect population!” That’s what I should have said in reply when Ali, from the safety of the pavement twenty metres away, asked me whether I was getting anything. But I’ve never been quick when the opportunity for hilariously witty sarcasm arrives. Nor even just plain sarcasm for that matter. Besides which I was yet to realise I was now marooned on a tiny patch of shore and that the tide was beginning to wash around the feet of my tripod. All I could manage was “yes I think so,” as I batted another mosquito away. Of course there were mosquitoes here at this time of day. Why on earth would I think that there wouldn’t be at the edge of the water, standing next to a decidedly boggy patch of wetland? But then again you’ve already learned that I’m not the sharpest chisel in the toolbag at times. And if further proof of that were needed, just a few moments later, I was sloshing back to the safety of the pontoon through sinking sand as the sea slipped into the inlet from the direction of Fornells behind me. Pursued by a cloud of hungry miniature winged vampires.
By now I was getting used to the fact that things don’t always go according to plan here. And despite the online research suggesting this would be a relatively easy subject to get to, it was proving almost elusive as that cove I never found my way to a week earlier. Yet the low white boathouse lay hidden in plain sight at the edge of the estuary. How difficult could this be? Google Maps weren’t quite as helpful as usual today though. The road that supposedly led towards it turned out to be somebody’s drive with a chained gate barring further progress. A series of planks across a swampy area led to the side of the water, but some distance short of the target. I could try and climb those rocks, but the local wildlife was more belligerent than ever there and I retreated like a scalded cat in a hurry with his tail between his legs. In the end the only option seemed to be to trust the long end of a budget lens and hope for the best.
A few moments later I was standing on the pavement overlooking the water, at least two hundred yards from the boathouse, while Ali disappeared along a nearby pontoon to inspect the yachts. Soon she called me over, the implied suggestion being I might get a better shot from where she was standing. So I wandered over to where she was, and before long decided to advance the last few yards that were available to me, squelching across a tiny beach that despite appearances seemed to consist of more mud than sand. Still, there was no going back now, and the vantage point I had was as good as it was going to get. Well I suppose I had Monte Toro, the highest point on the island (and rival candidate for this evening’s final port of call) in the background as a compositional bonus. If all of those huge masts can be considered as an aesthetically pleasing addition that is. No I’m not sure either, but then I never trust people who are certain about things.
I found Ali back at the car, hiding from the vampires as in vain I tried to brush off the mud and sand soup from my shoes before climbing in. And as we began the journey back towards the hotel, we couldn’t help noticing that one of those curious reverse sunsets was happening. To the west the sky was clear, warm but featureless with a yellow glow. Yet to the east, where there were no immediately obvious compositions, a bank of low cloud was filled with the pinks, oranges and fiery reds that so many of us lose our heads over, rare as they are on our rain sodden cluster of islands further north. But I knew it was a losing game. Not only did I have no idea of where I might get a shot, but down here in the Mediterranean, the distance between golden hour and dusk is a short journey. I sighed and accepted it. Or at least I did until I noticed the pull in near the roundabout, where I jumped out of the car and over a limestone wall, losing my footing on the red earth before scrambling up a small rise through trees to arrive at a vista that sadly offered nothing of note. Already the colours had mostly departed, even though scarcely five minutes had passed. You can’t have it all. I sighed and scrambled back down the slope and over the wall. My shoes, still wet from the soggy sand, were now coated in a brighter shade of red than the ones we’d just seen in the sky. It was time to leave and trust that the bargain basement bit of glass I bought from eBay and the boathouse shots from the mosquito coast had delivered.

I am still getting film developed from my adventures over the past month or so. Early last month saw a half day visit out to the Tulip Festival for the first time in about a decade. Whilst there I decided to spend the morning photographing in ways that had not been available to me the last time I'd visited. One of those additions to my creative toolbag are the Lomochrome films such as Purple and Turquoise. I've had a lot of fun with Purple over the years. I really enjoy taking it into a good verdant forest, but in the last year or so I have been branching out a bit more with it. I recently did some extreme floral macros with the film and then shot this roll at the tulip fields. Of those exploratory photos, this one turned out as my favorite.
But having said that, it isn't the possession of this image that makes me smile. Rather it is the creative exploration and the sense of discovery that comes with being able to peek around the world and find/create scenes like this. It keeps the familiar fresh and wondrous, and of course the fresh and wondrous become doubly amazing. So much of our existence is lived in our heads (maybe all of it according to some), so I feel like keeping a keen sense of imagination and curiosity in turn makes that existence quite enjoyable and rich.

Toolbox .
Here we see some jewellery making tools which come from the multi coloured tool-bag - along with the pincers , pliers , cutters and goodness knows whatever else !! I will not attempt to name everything and/or what they do because I am not the jewellery maker in the family , suffice to say there are other bits and bobs but that would have made the shot too cluttered when the subject really is the stripey tool-bag !! The other way round it bears the logo " Jewellery Maker " from the shopping channel of the same name !!
Since it looks like w are working on a pearl necklace ( knotted I would presume !! ) this weeks music has to be a touch of ZZ Top !!

Sent me with it all to the dump, and whilst sorting the "garbage" I found THIS and thought it would be perfect for those pretty small tools always needed in the car.
So here it is.
Perfect for its purpose and pretty neat.

Day 253 of the 365 Journey
Red Bull gives you what? That’s right…..WINGS. Red Bull, Rockstar, Monster…..and about 10 other energy drinks out there. Speaking of which I think I need to make a store run!
Ok let’s play 20 Questions!
Question: How much did it take to make the DIY light strips?
Answer: About $39.00.
Question: How do I think of a new shot every day?
Answer: As I think of thing on a daily basis, I add it to a running list that I keep. Most days, all of the prior ideas don’t make any sense anyways, so I have to pull stuff out of thin air, haha.
Question: How long does it take everyday to do my 365?
Answer: Anywherre between a half hour and three depending on the complexity.
Question: Does my Studio; AKA front living room; ALWAYS look like “that”?
Answer: Ummmmm, yes.
Question: Do I know everything there is to know about lighting?
Answer: If I said yes I’d be an idiot. No matter how good you are, there’s ALWAYS something more to learn. If you think you know everything, YOU’RE an idiot.
Question: What’s my favorite T.V. show?
Answer: Friends…DUH!
Question: Are my dogs well trained?
Answer: YES!
Question: Are the weapons that Agent 47 has real?
Answer: Sometimes, depending on the shot and where I’m at.
Question: What’s my favorite drink?
Answer: Malibu Rum (or Parrot Bay) and Pineapple juice.
Question: How many light’s do I usually use?
Answer: I usually use between 1 and 3 for the most part.
Question: What’s my favorite color?
Answer: Blue
Question: How did you learn how to light photos?
Answer: I’m constantly reading books about lighting and constant practice. Everything is self taught. I use the term “self” loosly. I’ve learned a grat deal of knowledge from friends, fellow photographers, and inspirational photos from others.
Question: What do I use to edit my images?
Answer: I use Adobe photoshop with a toolbag of various plugins.
Question: Have you ever worked at Chuck E. Cheese?
Answer: Yes in high school. I actually got to dress up as the mouse and dance around like a maniac, haha.
OK so there weren’t 20 questions, but there’s a little insight into me! It’s Friday and I’m ready for the weeekend. We’ve got anotherr awesome Halloween party this weekend. I can’t wait!

A group of nice old bicycle tools from arround the early 20's or 30's two of them are marked Burgers E.N.R. (Eerste Nederlandse RIjwielfabriek) which means the first Netherlands Bicycle factory.
I knew that some tools where marked with the name of bicycle brands and where supplied with the bike for maintanance during a cycling tour. Most of the time there was also an small oilcan in the litle bag enclosed. I am searching for an nice toolbag in brown leather for my old Fongers bike which i am restoring on the moment.
An emergency capute of he bits of my Wera Kraftform Kompakt Zyklop 1/4.
I worked long today and came back home too tired and uninspired to find another motiv. A flash on a gorilla pod was placed on left for illumination.
Its bed time for me now!
We explored three abandoned houses that had to be from the 1800s, all sitting on the side of the road in Maryland. It was pretty creepy.. but maybe that's just because I've been watching too much Ghost Adventures. Yes, all the guys on that show are toolbags, but it still scares me. Planning a super awesome day - long car trip to three abandoned places I've been wanting to see. So super excited.
For the group Macro Monday and the week of November 25th's challenge: "In My Bag."
This is a micro (macro) photograph of my 6" adjustable open end wrench, made by Crescent. It is inside of a small tool bag on my bike. Also visible is the plastic bag I keep cookies in; an orange carpenter's pencil; and just barely visible in the darkness, a gas receipt. I placed the lens into my bag and used flash with the exposure darkened somewhat to compensate.

I LOVE tools, and this is one of my absolute favorite wrenches.

This photocard arrived yesterday from the UK. Its a cyclist with two girls, are they his daughters? Who knows. The bicycle is The Standard Humber Gentleman's Light Roadster from 1905-1909 outfitted with a Brooks B 18 saddle , a celluloid inflator, Humber toolbag, and a free wheel. I tried to find out the brand name for the acetylen lamp but i couldn't find it in the Early bicycle lighting book by Peter Card. Does anyone knows this model? The price for this bicycle model was in 1909 £ 7,70
My trusty trowel. I wear a carpenter's toolbag around my waist when I am out gardening ... filled with my secateurs, trowel, gardening gloves, ties, and various other gardening paraphenalia. This way iI I always have my gear with me.

Taken with iPhone 4S.
New old stock Automoto cyclosportif bicycles, early 1960s, all 55 cm c/c and 700c.
These are Peugeomotos, really. Badged Automoto, they were made by Peugeot right after they had bought their St. Etienne competitor.
