couldn't resist.

catching the last bit of light in the park this afternoon. clocks changed this weekend, so it's getting dark way too early.

Trulli di Alberobello - Italy

Beneath grass fronds we have tiny little hyacinth buds as well as tiny tulips. Yet morning temps lower to 34F / 1.1C with frost.

Belly shot. This is where my husband's 200mm macro lens works best, pushing it through the grass toward the little buds.

We had 15 cm's of snow last night ... and the blue jays and grey jays are here looking for breakfast. It's still snowing so I will use one from the archives to mark the occasion.

Another snow storm shot for you! Not quite as dramatic as the last one but not without interest I hope!

ODC-Too Early

The sun is coming up later and later each morning now that Fall isn't far off. We are experiencing those beautiful orange skies again. I am so fortunate to see this from my front door. I love it.

To think things over...

The street lights from the parking lot are providing the lighting under the pier.

Got to Teignmouth beach just before dawn to test my newly rebuilt camera on the Queen Mary 2 in the early light. I forgot that Canon completely reset the settings so these could have been better shot in RAW, but not too bad. I took this long exposure with a 10 stop Zomei filter. I had several attempts since focusing in half light with no viewfinder is trying. I then walked along the beach and found some fellow photographers who had been there for a couple of hours.

time for my bi-annual contribution to my flickr account heh heh

After going to Andrew and Scarletts for some gorgeous food and company last night. I had the bright idea that sunrise would be a good idea. Although I was really tired it was well worth it. Not much in the way of clouds but I still had a good morning.

Far too much snow for my liking here in the UK & far too early! Not the greatest shot for quality due to the poor lighting but I thought the little robin was cute so thought I'd post it. Hope you are all managing to stay warm!

A variation shot of my Teignmouth beach set. Long exposure black and white.

The honey locust tree in our front yard (and the one across the street at the neighbour's) has started turning yellow and losing its leaves all of a sudden, despite (or because of?) the decidedly unseasonable heat (30ºC+) we've been getting all week. At this rate, the trees will be bare by the beginning of October...

Wow, thank you everyone, the response to this has already exceeded my expectations, I wasn't sure if people would like it or not. The swirls are from a long exposure of some bubbles on the reservoir surface. I used a ND4 grad upside down on this image to balance the bottom third of the exposure.

I usually take several shots of a long exposure as the movement is unpredictable. This time, I only took one frame and kind of liked it. I cropped it to 5x4 as there was some kind of horrible, clone out proof smudge. (Should I admit that?)

Haven't posted any sunrise shots lately. That's because the sun has been rising way too early. Some Flickr friends are planning a sunrise shoot tomorrow. But in case I'm unable to escape from the strong magnetic force generated by my bed, I'm posting this to show my support!

An extremely early morning hike in Viñales as we walked uphill in complete darkness (and torches) towards Los Acuáticos - a small community who believe in the healing powers of water.

Watching the spectacular sunrise from the mountains was definitely worth getting up with a hangover at 4am for.

It's no secret that for outdoor photography, sunlight is very important. And most of you probably also know that the best times are during the 'golden hour' which is just before sunset and just after sunrise. I usually shoot my pictures and videos in the evening, because that's when I (and my photographing friends) have time. :-P

Now, I don't know if it's true, but some have said that the light during sunrise is even prettier than during the evening.. so I decided to try that. Now, I'm known for a lot of things.. but me being a cheery and active morning person ain't one of them!

So, I don't know.. perhaps the sunrise light might be nicer.. but I think I look better at 8 in the evening than 5 in the morning! Perhaps I needed more coffee... or perhaps I should have used the light in a different way. I'm not convinced yet.

This lineup of kids includes Joshua and some of my nieces and nephews who were at our family reunion at Bear Lake. They were all supposed to jump into the pool after we counted to three, but Taylor went early and hit the water before anyone else. The rental house we used gave us access to this pool which sits right next to the lake in the background. A fun and scenic spot for sure.

Did I mention that I was at the mall last week? Well, I saw this very early Christmas display, now you have to see it as well.
