So I bought myself a 2016 Captain America fig, and realized that it didn't quite look right. So, I decided to upgrade it. Here's what I've done.
- Added a sanded Ultron Helm, painted it blue.
- Added straps to the front and back and sides.
- Put the grey things on the stars for depth.
- Added toecaps.
- Added some dark blue to the grey parts to give it more detail.
- Changed the color of the belt.
- Modified a face.
- Extended the white to the sides.
Yep. I realized I liked Cap a few days ago.
And Civil War = Overrated & Overhyped.

Steel toe DM. Often (even at the age of 50 something!) essential gig going footwear.
I've got a strange addiction to big crowds of people/strangers with one thing in common, whether it be the band or the team. One thing I'm not addicted to is having my toes stood on. Of course I could just move my ageing bones away from the crowd but where's the fun in that!

The Oxford English Dictionary defines a clog as a "thick piece of wood", and later as a "wooden soled overshoe" and a "shoe with a thick wooden sole".
Welsh traditional clog maker Trefor Owen identified three main varieties of clogs: wooden upper, wooden soled and overshoes. [2] wooden upper clogs; are made by hollowing out a lump of solid wood to make a combined upper and lower. Two main variants can be seen:
whole foot clogs; where the wooden upper covers the whole of the foot to near the ankle, such as the familiar Dutch klomp. They are also known as "wooden shoes". Whole foot clogs can give sufficient protection to be used as safety footwear without additional reinforcements.
half open clogs; where the wooden upper extends over the toes or slightly further, such as the Italian "zoccolo" or Belgian sabots. The upper is similar in outline to a court shoe. Half open clogs may have additional covering or securing straps in some sort of fabric or leather.
Wooden soled clogs; use wood for the sole only. Wooden soled clogs come with a variety of uppers:
complete uppers made from leather or similar material, such as English clogs. For more protection, they may have steel toecaps and/or steel reinforcing inserts in the undersides of the soles

Overshoes; are wooden soles with straps designed to be worn over other footwear for protection, commonly known as pattens. Patten style clogs are not used anymore. However the derivative galoshes are common world-wide.
These divisions are not fixed: some overshoes look more like whole foot clogs, like Spanish albarca, whilst other wooden soled clogs raise and protect clothing in the way that overshoes do, such as Japanese geta.
The type of upper determines how the clogs are worn. Whole foot clogs need to be close fitting and can be secured by curling the toes. In contrast wooden soled clogs are fastened by laces or buckles on the welt and therefore the toes are relaxed as in shoes. Half open clogs may either be secured like whole foot clogs, or have an additional strap over the top of the foot. Some sandal types, and in particular toe peg styles, are worn more like "flip-flops" and rely on the grip between the big and next toe.
Being wood, clogs cannot flex under the ball of the foot as softer shoes do. To allow the foot to roll forward most clogs have the bottom of the toe curved up, known as the cast.[3] Some styles of clogs have "feet", such as Spanish albarca. The clog rotates around the front edge of the front "feet". Japanese and Indian clogs may have "teeth" or very high pegs attached to the soles. The clog can rotate around the front edge of the front "tooth" as the wearer strides forward. Some medieval pattens were in two pieces, heel through to ball and ball to toes. Joining the two was a leather strip forming a hinge, thus allowing the shoe above to flex.more candids here

Yesterday we wenty to a local beauty spot, Bidulph Grange, but this was closed, so we went to the nearby park with the idea that I could take some photos of snow laden trees. However the path was too slippery so we decided to cut our losses, cross the field to the path going back (or the path that goes up to the woods if you entered that way!).
The field was pristine and snow covered, so off we went on our merry way. mid-trek I got the prize for finding the only boggy pit in the field oinstantly changing my boots from black to brown.
Even after cleaning my boots before re-entering my car they still looked muddy. No laughing now !

One of the occasional series of pictures from the camera of Phyllis Nicklin.
This is summer 1935 and the Silver Jubilee of King George V.
Like many towns and villages all over England the occasion was celebrated, often by street parties in towns and cities. Drakes Cross Wythall was a small village then well seperated from the City of Birmingham. The village had a sports day and Phyliis with her Leica was the photographer, she took lots of pictures, were they ever printed, we will never know.
This event was the Boys Slow Bicycle race, the object was to ride as slowly as possible along the course, the winner being the last to arrive at the finishing line without falling off, the competitors did not set out together, the vicar timed each contestant.
In this picture the lad at the back, in mid wobble, is the epitome of belt 'n' braces, he might lose the race but not his shorts!. Either side of the cyclists are two men, one feels from opposite ends of the social spectrum. On the left the chap has a suit which looks as if it belongs to his dad, the trouser leg bottoms actually extend further than his toecaps, to complete the picture he has a cigarette dangling from his lips. On the right we have the sporting gentleman's attire, he has a well cut tweed sports coat and smart bespoke light trousers with light coloured shoes. The sad part of course is these boys, so carefree here, would be conscripted in the approaching war, probably they would be right age to have been at Dunkirk.
These pictures are 84 years old and the 35mm film is like a watch spring. I have scanned them and removed dust and scratches. They will be presented without fancy borders or resorting to the dreaded sepia, this is as close to how they would have appeared, fresh from the darkroom in 1935.

Two industrial 'Skarn' frames.
In orange, equipped with dual high-pressure liquid tanks, usually filled with weedkiller for anti-Leshy suppression.
The 'Angel' is an ungainly frame, with rear furnace providing steam for maneuvering vents, enabling large leaps rather than outright flight. The Angel carries a carbine with bayonet, and heavy knife.
