Standing on Maho Beach, near the approach end of runway 10 at Princess Juliana International Airport in Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten, I heard something getting progressively louder.

HI977, a McDonnell Douglas DC-9-83, was departing runway 28. It was headed to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic as PWD722 (Pan Am World Airways Dominicana, C. x A.).

Unfortunately, this rather striking livery disappeared from the skies when the carrier was grounded by Dominican authorities on January 28, 2018.
