Raw distance, that's right, 325 yards. not straight distance, could be to the right, could be to the left, could be down the middle, or you could slow your swing down, lose a little distance but let the club do the work and hit it down the middle, but where's the fun in that?

So, I went to the Mastercard Classic (20,21,22/03/09) and had the chance to watch these girls on the field. All the girls are really cool, I have to say that I agree... these girls rock!
Today, May 10th 2010, I just read that Erica Blasberg passed away yesterday... I was a big fan of her. I will miss her.
Stand on a ladder in front of your daughter practicing her chip shots. You have to time it right, but you can get the ball in focus for a quick snap. You can also get hit by several hundred balls while trying.

By talking to Jean-Paul Mendy (IBF #1), and seeing the confidence he possesses, you'd almost think that he was the champion defending his title on Saturday night, rather than the other way around. Few fighters, in his position would be able to possess such a calm and collective demeanor, but for Mendy his fight against IBF Super Middleweight Titleist, Lucian Bute, in Bute's home country of Romania, seems to be just another day in office. Mendy challenges Bute this Saturday night at the Romexpo in Bucharest, Romania. The bout is promoted by EuroPlstar boxingus Computers S.R.L. and Interbox in association with Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing.
"Training camp was very good, I worked very hard for this fight, and I am ready to go Saturday night," stated Mendy.
While Bute is considered by many to be the top super middleweight, and one of the top pound for pound fighters in the world, Mendy says he doesn't see anything in particular that overly impresses him.
"I have had a very long career in the sport, and seen many different fighters. I competed in the Olympics and have yet to be beaten as a professional. To me Lucian Bute is just another fighter. The only difference is that he is a champion, and for that I'm very happy that I have this opportunity to finally fight for a world championship."
The fight Saturday night will be only Bute's second as a professional, and first as world champion in his home country of Romania, and a raucous crowd is expected to be on hand. Again though, Mendy is unfazed, if anything, he is excited about it.
"I have been to Romania before and I really liked the country and the people so I am very much looking forward to fighting there. I expect everyone there to be cheering for him, but the ring that night will be just like any other ring I have fought in. The fans, whether they are for me or against me, will stimulate me, and I will feed off their energy. I know that as long as I am myself and box like I know how, I will be victorious in this fight."
Bute (28-0, 23KO's) vs Mendy (29-0-1, 16KO's) is scheduled for twelve rounds and will be for Bute's IBF Super Middleweight Championship. The bout is promoted by EuroPlus Computers S.R.L. and Interbox in association with Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing.

A golf ball is 1.680 inches in diameter. I typical golf ball has between 300 and 500 dimples. That's a lot of very small circles.
I can’t help but feel like I post a lot of shots of this giant Titleist. But I do love how many different compositions can be obtained to produce almost unlimited combinations of this universal icon.
These are my new Titleist AP2 Forged Irons, they have the Project X Flighted 6.0 shaft and corded grips. Amazing clubs.
An Acushnet Green Ray golf ball, probably from the 1940s or 1950s, and a MacGregor Tourney 5-wood. Acushnet has been the maker of Titleist golf balls since the 1930s.
Enjoy The Masters!!

As you'd expect, shot for The Photo Forum's b/w 'round' challenge, the themed thread for which I've been shooting and posting over the last couple weeks.
The weekly challenge at TPF this week is for subjects which begin with the letter T.
There is only one of those in this photo...

Well, I wouldn't say that I am The Golfer but I was golfing this morning and apart from two small rain showers the weather was great! I had a good round and that always makes me feel better ... now time for a coffee!!

On our exercise walk today I took a golfball and tee for a couple of shots with two camera/lens combinations.

Dave's been away this week catching the sun and getting a few rounds in while I've stayed at home practising my compositing technique!
Ode to a game that I truly love, but seldom have time to play. Maybe, the manufacturer will find pity on me and send me a couple dozen for inspiration.

I never paid close enough attention to the surface of golf balls to notice how irregular they are. I always assumed that the dimpled pattern was uniform and it is really off.
Also, does anyone know why these are stamped with a "CL" in the dimpled pattern?

I've played golf since I was about 7. I played every weekend, and even used to train sometimes during the week for a while. I was a good player. And then I stopped playing; for various reasons I did not touch my golf clubs at all for almost 4 years.
Until last September, where I played a couple of days. Not as bad as I'd been expecting.
Since then I've played only a handful of times, and Alex is learning.
We are trying to institute golf Thursdays for quite a while, but it doesn't seem to be catching. We've only gone to play on a Thursday once - and it wasn't today.

Definition of Hooky - ...unjustifiable absence from school, work, etc. usually used in the phrase "play hooky".
I stopped by the Country Club of Arkansas on the way to work this morning get a "Low" shot for today's challenge. I had seen this in a magazine once and decided it would be a good one for the challenge. Since I gave up golf years ago (I was terrible at it) I had to rely on the good nature of some local golfers teeing up on hole #7 for a ball and tee. I convinced them I wasn't a nut case and and laid on the ground to get this shot. After several I could see they were anxious to get going so I finished and asked if I could take their pictures too. "H*** no" one guy said... "I called in sick this morning and I don't want any pictures circulating of me on the golf course" . I guess even big boys play "hooky".
