Not entirely sure why I'm posting this. it's kind of crap. (Don't rush to tell me otherwise. I'm not fishing.) There is no point of focus -- except maybe on my stomach (very attractive.) I look like the unholy love child of a witch and a witch- hunter. (I saw Goody Proctor with the devil!) *But* I did think the light and the bokeh and the reflections and the setting (get a load of all that trash behind me -- gross!) were pretty cool.

Technical stuff

I recently read that you have to be extra careful with using flash near young children. They don't have the reflexes in place to handle the bright and sudden light.

For this occasion, I have built a small soft box that fits around the head of my 580EX. The flash head points upward into a 10" (25cm) diameter cylinder. It backlights a circle of thick drawing paper that points in the direction of the subject. You can actually see the reflection of that circle in Hanna's eyes.
