Schloss Nymphenburg is a palace located in the west of Munich and one of the main tourist attractions of the city, with yearly over 300,000 visitors,

 

The palace is the main summer residence of the House of Wittelsbach, former rulers of Bavaria.

 

Commisioned in 1664, the central building in the style of an Italian Villa was completed in 1675. Gradually the sides were added and the current appearance was reached in 1716.

Munich's resident "cowboy". He looks sort of bored - but then, his herd never moves...

 

The Rinderhirt is part of the Rindermarkt (= cattle market) ensemble of cattle and their herder. The entire ensemble intends to remember the times when the Rindermarkt was a place to trade cattle.

This thing is actually the roof of a "light well" or "skylight" that provides daylight to the mezzanine level of the U-Bahn station "Harthof", located at the southern end of that station.

A view upstream the Pegnitz river. The building on the left is the Heilig-Geist-Spital, built 1339. The Reichskleinodien (Imperial Regalia) were stored there from 1424 to 1796.

 

The Schuldturm tower in the center was built in 1323 as part of the town fortifications. As the city grew and new fortifications were built further outside the town, the tower found new use as debtors' prison, thus the name Schuldturm (lit. "debt tower").

The Latonabrunnen (Latona-fountain) in the gardens of Schloss Herrenchiemsee.

 

The fountain shows the legend of the goddess Latona. According to this Greek legend, the goddess Latona was treated aggresively by peasants, so to punish them she turned them into frogs and turtles.

One of the inlet structures of this weir in the Loisach river. The current weir dates to 1994, but the earliest weir in this place was mentioned in 14th century documents.

The sail of the former Soviet submarine K-24 (B-124), yard number 511, which is a maritime museum exhibit in Peenemünde under the f@ke name of "U-461".

 

K-24 is a projekt 651 submarine, NATO reporting name of this class was Juliett-class. The projekt 651 boats were the largest diesel-electric submarines ever build.

 

Primary armament were four SS-N-3 Shaddock (P-5 or P-6), or later the SS-N-12 Sandbox (P-500 4K-80 Basalt) nuclear-capable cruise missiles, main target were aircraft carrier battle groups.

 

Secondary armament were 6x 533 mm bow torpedo tubes with 18 torpedoes and 4x 400 mm stern torpedo tubes with 4 torpedoes.
