This shot of the Henry House was taken at the Manassas National Battlefield Park, the site of the First Battle of Bull Run. Its original owner, Judith Carter Henry, was the sole civilian casualty of the bloodiest battle in all of U.S. history. In just one day there were nearly 5,000 casualties. In an incredible show of naivete civilian spectators traveled down from Washington to have a picnic and to watch what they expected would be a swift, easy victory for the North. They could not have been more wrong.
They say that time heals all wounds.
I don't believe that.
The Civil War ended 154 years ago.
If time heals so well,
why are we still fighting that war ?

I've been told so many times before that time will heal all wounds, but I still don't believe it. I don't think the marks left from lifes battles ever completely heal over. I think that time just makes you numb to the pain of the past and allows you to move forward and continue on.
Each wound runs deeper along the scars but time is always there to act as novocaine.
Time doesn't let you forget, time just lets you breathe easier.

I don't know that I necessarily believe this saying. Well, maybe if one is speaking about physical wounds. Psychological or emotional wounds are another thing altogether. I think that the passage of time makes those fade, but they're never really healed, at least in my experience.
115 Pictures in 2015 #12: Illustrate a Proverb or Traditional Saying
They laid their hands upon my head,
They stroked my cheek and brow;
And time could heal a hurt, they said,
And time could dim a vow.
And they were pitiful and mild
Who whispered to me then;
"The heart that breaks in April, child;
Will mend in May again."
Oh, many a mended heart they knew;
So old they were, and wise.
And little did they have to do
To come to me with lies!
Who flings me silly talk of May
Shall meet a bitter soul;
For June was nearly spent away
Before my heart was whole.

... is supposed to have relaxing & soothing qualities
breathe in .... breathe out
Time heals all wounds ...
Time heals all wounds,
but nothing can remove the scars,
that remember forever the pain you had.
