A view of the derelict Rhiw Bach slate quarry at Cwm Penmachno. The small pool on the right was frozen solid. It's hard to imagine when you look at images like this; and more importantly when you're at the locations, how awful the conditions would have been for the slate workers who were here over one hundred and fifty years ago. I count myself so lucky every time that these people led the way and gave us all a lifestyle that we've become accustomed to. The chimney was the part of the wheelhouse whilst the remains of the buildings on the right hand side were a large dressing shed.
Photographed through a window pane in a decoration shop, in which an old-style street lamp is reflected.
Ne approfitto per dirvi che sono tra i selezionati del concorso internazionale d'arte contemporanea YICCA 2009 ...

Taking a vacation from my vacation pictures. I went for a walk out at Rush Ranch. There is always something to see out there. :-)
See you next week, it's time for me to fly. Thanks for all your visits and comments. More aviation/Sudoku shots when I return :-)
Era - Don't go away
If an angel comes down
And takes me away
The memories of me
And my songs
Will always stay
Till they can find
(until the end of time)
Until the end of time
Till the end of time

Two great bronze figures, hinged at the waist, which strike the hours on a bell. One is old and the other young, to show the passing of time at St. Mark's Clocktower.

Goblin Valley State Park

April 2025
Goblin Valley State Park offers one of the world's most pristine and awe-inspiring night sky adventures. Designated an International Dark Sky Park in 2016, it boasts exceptionally dark skies with virtually no light pollution. It's the darkest sky I've been lucky enough to experience
River Elwy. A full four minute exposure.
The River Elwy (Afon Elwy in Welsh) is a river in Wales and is a tributary of the River Clwyd. The source of the river is sometimes said to be on the northern flank of Moel Seisiog, south-east of Llanrwst, at Ordnance Survey grid reference SH853593. However the river is only actually called the Elwy at the village of Llangernyw, where three rivers, Afon Cledwen, Afon Collen and Afon Gallen, meet to form the Elwy. It flows eastwards through Llanfair Talhaiarn and a few miles downstream from this village it is joined by a tributary, the River Aled (Afon Aled) which has its source in Llyn Aled.
After passing through Bont-newydd, the river turns northwards again and flows through St. Asaph (Llanelwy or "the church enclosure on the Elwy" in Welsh). It joins the River Clwyd about half way between St. Asaph and Rhuddlan, and the waters of the two rivers can often be seen flowing side by side for several miles.

No photoshop, just good old- fashioned photography. Me, a camera, tripod and a torch.
Have a creative new week, Flickr friends.
A40231 26 rolls through Onondaga with CN 2443, CN 3234, and 72 cars.
With the C40-8M's once again dwindling, I'm feeling more an more like this could very well be the last one that 'll have shot leading...time will tell
Siting patiently while the crew takes their break, CN 2686 and 2225 sit tied down at the former BC Rail yard in Squamish, BC. The train arrived late and stayed late following some time consuming switching moves at the marine terminal in town. Situated next to the train in this photo is the former BC Rail passenger station, now utilized as a yard office.

The truck peeking through the "natural frame" of the dilapidated wagon is a staple of photos taken in Bodie, and I took quite a few more on that last trip. But here I looked for one of my "interesting angles" framing the truck with the wagon.
