Construit au XVIIe siècle de style Louis XIII, il est flanqué de deux tours circulaires, et autrefois entouré de fossés. En 1764, le comte de Grasse acheta la propriété, et s'y retira en 1784 après avoir été exilé de la cour par le Conseil de guerre. Agrémenté d'un parc de six hectares, il a été racheté et sauvé de la ruine en 1936 par François Delalande.
En 1976, dans la cour d'honneur du château, se trouvait quatre canons de bronze offerts par les États-Unis à l'occasion du bicentenaire de l'indépendance américaine. Ils ont été volés en 2007.
Les originaux, pris aux Anglais et offerts par Washington à l'amiral de Grasse, ont été fondus en 1793 pendant la Révolution française.

The so-called "Arctic Gateway" is a very new construction in Tromsø; so much so that when we came in 2019 it didn't exist.
Its aurora mosaics frame a view of the "Arctic Cathedral", just across the Tromsøysundet.

I took some pictures of Tilly and Ashala in the sea the other day, I just uploaded one of Ashala so thought I'd upload a similar one of Tilly. I love the look of the water in this picture.

This is my new wee puppy Tilly, a wee rescue dog we took on and she got her forever home with us on the 29th April 2024. Tilly was around 5 and a half months when we got her just over a week ago. She and her two siblings were dumped in the dog pound when the farmer couldn't sell them. They had never been handled and when in The Pound they would only come out from their hiding place for moments at a time before scurrying back in again when they seen a human. They were covered in fleas and Tilly had licked the inside of her legs clean of it's fur. A foster Mother took her in as The Pound only keeps dogs for around 10 days. I think altogether Tilly has just been out of the pound for a few weeks and has come on amazingly well and is well socilized with humans now though a bit wary of new people. She is walking beautifully on a lead now, and we can let her off lead to run free on the beach with Ashala and we only have just over a week. She is very affectionate but a bit jealous when we pet Ashala and will come in to separate us from petting her. I look forward to taking pictures of wee Tilly especially with her big sister Ashala. I really believe that Tilly and Ashala are true sisters from the same parents but a different litter. I hope you all enjoy seeing wee Tilly here on Ashala's account and that her being included on Ashala's account will make it a better account.
